I've been rereading Feast & Dance interchangeably and something I noticed when reading Davos & Cersei's chapters is, Salladhor Saan abandons Stannis for the Stepstones around the same time Aurane catches the eye of Cersei, mayhaps the two are working together to shake the crown of all its worth. Also Aurane suggests that he take all the dregs of Kings Landing for his own crew instead of sending them to the wall.

Handsome is absolutely edible, especially when you serve Cersei Lannister 🤣 🤣 In the Game of Thrones novels, Cersei is a lot less clever than in the movies, and also a lot more boyish. In particular, the person who left the deepest impression on her was Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen (the eldest brother of the Mother of Dragons, the father of Jon Snow later). Rhaegar was so handsome that Cersei only met him once and wanted to marry him, only to be rebuffed later to return to incest with Jaime as before. Years later, Cersei is now the queen regent, ruling the kingdom because of her young son Tommen. She didn't want to use Tyrell's suggestions, so she appointed a bunch of scumbags herself. The most special of them is Aurane Waters. This man was an illegitimate son of House Velaryon - a family related to the dragon-kings of the Targaryens of old. Initially, he sided with Stannis, after Stannis was defeated at Blackwater (season 2 on the film), was arrested, then released again for swearing allegiance to King Joffrey. All of the above points to Aurane being a worthless bastard, even from the enemy ranks, not to be trusted. But just because he resembled the old Crown Prince Rhaegar (blond hair, silvery gray eyes) that Cersei began to fantasize and named him ... the captain of the navy, with a foot in the royal council. It is worth mentioning that Aurane is only one or two parts like Rhaegar. But Cersei still used him, even always thinking in his head that he wanted her, or glanced at her. What is the end result? Cersei poured a lot of money into building ships for Aurane to command, but as soon as Cersei was imprisoned by the Holy See, Aurane drove all those ships away, ignoring her. Tried to raise a pilot but failed miserably. 🤣 🤣 🤣

House Velaryon low key is pretty cool so many based characters. Corlys the Sea Snake, Alyn Velaryon, and now Aurane Would be interesting if the current young Lord of the Tides were to bond with one of Dany's Dragons as well. 6 year old kid perhaps, but still the Velaryon Lord of the Tides nonetheless Would be interesting if Aurane is just trying to help out his family, but also wants to make his own name remembered as well. Perhaps he'll he the "cool bastard uncle" to his nephew, but that's just an ideal situation. If he were to ally with Daenerys, he'd be merely joining a Targaryen Dragonlord in an invasion of Westeros, like his Ancestor once did for Aegon the Conqueror. And, while I'm not sure how Dany plans to keep the Targaryen name, (Faegon being a likely fake) if she becomes Queen and marries Aurane as a Valyrian blooded (Velaryon) Prince-Consort then that helps solidify the "Blood of Old Valyria" she loves talking about.

Otherwise, either we are three books fom the end, or the last will be The Book of Death. I love the idea that Au will return to Stannis. What would be nice is SS, can't remember his name he rescued Davos after BW, if he returned. The guess I make is for him. He will rescue Rickon, perhaps rally Skagos, and will seize the Dreadfort. That is why he is in the series, to give us hope of progress. Every other character is muddle or dawdle. How many chapters do you think will be pushed from FFC all the way to DOS? And why do people keep saying that the Hound is alive? On the island, the priest said unequivocally (I read it so) that he was dead. "I buried him." George can't redeem Every villain....

As much as I like Stannis and his cause, I highly doubt Aurane would come to his side when there are far more prosperous options to take. However, he would likely be already aquainted with Sallador Saan due to them both serving Stannis before the Blackwater. That may lead to them combining forces to make a mightly fleet

I think Aurane is going to back Connington's ward, Young Griff, who I hope is really a secret Targaryen. They're my favorite family in the ASOIAF universe and I want to see them rise up again. Right when House Targaryen is on the verge of being snuffed out, Daenerys and Aegon meet and fall in love, a similar Aunt/Nephew relationship that was portrayed on tv with Jon and Dani.

Im pretty sure The Velaryons were major supporters of the blackfyres, or at least Some considering Daemon Blackfyres mother was a Velaryon. There is little and less known about what they did during the dance. I also find it interesting how one of Daemon Targaryens daughters married a Velaryon bastard (The Oakenfist) and another had numerous daughters with a Hightower lord and just like the Velaryons we really know very little of what the Hightowers were up to save for the fact that they fought on both sides.

House Velaryon might be dark-skinned in HotD, but I don't think that applies to Aurane. Aurane resembles Rhaegar Targaryen so much that Cersei thinks he's Rhaegar risen from the dead during their first meeting. Aurane is definitely pale, just as Rhaegar was. He's meant to look like a silver/green-eyed Rhaegar with a pirate aesthetic and a dimple on his chin.

Afterall, he has no rights on the tv production and just has to take and happily does for money. So he doesn't "approve" of the race swaps, but he tolerates it, defends his financial motives ... I mean the show from backlash for money ... I mean reasons, etc. 3. The fact that this is a fictional does nothing to prove me wrong. People disliked them because of pandering and inaccuracies. Just another part of the show that should have been expanded on. When Ser Davos and his son goes to negotiate with Pirates they should have shown them also trying to court the Velaryons and the Manderlys. I also just love how Stannis falls back on thing he learned in the Ironborn rebellion and knows that he may not have enough numbers to take the Iron Throne but it helps having most of the ships
