Yikes. I feel your pain. I almost got stuck in one earlier in the year. It was a ThyssenKrupp Endura MRL main elevator at a mall that replaced something else. Thankfully, it was on the first floor and I used the door open button. It was scary though. I’m glad that you are safe though and we have to recognize others for helping us like this. Stay safe and you never know when this can happen. BTW, nice video. :)

I think what happened was it didn't level when it got to the 2nd floor and than just shut down. You said the total time that you were stuck was an hour and a half? That's quite a long time! I have only been stuck in 1 elevator before which was back in 2013, and it was a Schindler HT at a Barnes & Nobles. I was stuck for about 45 min and the fire department rescued me too. I was almost stuck between floors and they lowered the car down. Great job at staying calm and not panicking!

Mattyice0812 Thank you! Yeah I knew I was safe so there was no need to worry. This elevator did have pretty bad leveling issues so your probably right as to what happened. Even though I was in the elevator for an hour and a half, I was still very thankful for everyone who helped me.

When stuck in an elevator, don't open the doors till a professional arrives. That can cause the elevator to fall.

When it comes to elevators where people could possibly get stuck, facilities are required by federal law to have inspection certificates inside the elevators at all times. If they don't do that, they can get fined for not having certificates visible to people riding these things.

What is think was the problem was a interlock failure, explains why the doors would not open when it went to floor 1 and floor 2. I don’t know how rare these interlock failures are but correct me if I’m wrong.

Elevator gets stuck at 2:02. If you listen closely you can hear a jolt. I’ve only been stuck in 1 elevator in 2018. It was an Otis Series 1. Both times you went to the 2nd floor it didn’t sound right leveling

Hitting all buttons (Fixes the issue) ONLY HIT DOOR OPEN OR THE CURRENT FLOOR BUTTON AND ALARM AND PHONE Also that is a horribly maintained Dover Impulse if it gets stuck all the time. Also why isn’t the fan on? (But instead it’s OFF).

Man I feel bad for that Dover Impulse, I can’t believe you got stuck in that Elevator on the 2nd floor. I think It’s because the door operator randomly ended up not working for some reason. I almost got stuck in a Dover Impulse Elevator at my High School, Thankfully I sent it up & stood right outside of the Elevator listening to the motor going up and all of the sudden when it started leveling on 2 the motor started rumbling and I didn’t hear the doors opening on 2. Therefore It caused the elevator to get stuck on 2. Thank god I didn’t get stuck in it though.😌

I got stuck in elevator twice long term, once was in Dillards at Coastal Grand Mall other time was at Dillards Columbiana mall. which was recent. Coastal Grand Mall happened in 2015 after about 10 minuets the elevator fixed it self. Columbia Mall happened last week. This time the elevator was going up and jolted to a stop and went back down and leveled at 1st floor but did not open. Tried all the buttons and tried opening the door but nothing would work. the button to 2nd floor stayed lit the whole time. Used the emergency phone and it rang to the store it self, then the manager came to talk to us to see if everything was ok and how many people were stuck. They called the fire department, when they arrived it took them quiet some time to get the doors open, seemed like they had trouble with the drop key, once that was opened they had trouble with the inner doors. It seemed like someone was on the roof top as you can hear them walking around up there. They finally were able to force the doors open which seemed to be a struggle. 5 days later the elevator is still broken.

The elevator at my work will sometimes when you push the 3rd floor button, it will skip the floor and go to the 4th floor and the doors won't open. I thought I was stuck but I pressed doors open button and thankfully they did! Just a weird glitch I guess!

I did not get stuck in a elavator but I was for a few seconds. I was in the Miami Hotel and before you press any floor. You use your card and insert it. My dad did not know that and he pressed a floor and all of a sudden the elavator dropped. I freaked out my eyes were wide and I said " Dad what did you do???" and my dad shrugged. Then all of a sudden the elavator went up and we saw a guy. And once he went in he insterted his card. And my dad said " oh you were suppose to instert the card" and the man smiled and chuckles and said yeah. And my dad said " that is why were were stuck for a few seconds". And once the man reached the floor my dad insterted his card and we went to the correct floor.

This entire lift should get replaced, not just modernised! I wouldn't be afraid getting stuck in this lift alone because this lift has a phone in it. And at least you got stuck directly on the floor and not in between floors. And before I ride a lift I always check my phone to see if it has reception, even if the lift already has a working phone in it!

I'd say it needs new door operators. Doors often cause problems that break elevators, and these ones may have had it.

Dover elevators manufacturers didn't properly program....... Most of the time Dover crashes or lags or stopped at a floor doors closed, now we had to go to Johnson touch screen elevator newer 2020 version which is much better than Dover because it always had a problem lmfao

They should either have the address in the elevator or have the address show up on the operators screen when you call. What if someone didnt have a cell phone and had no clue on the address? And if the elevator breaks down frequently, they need to do some serious repair work on it

I have gotten stuck in a couple elevators mostly by the otis brand not sure what series of elevator. There is this elevator i have to go down to get to ground floor because the stairs would be filled with dust and paint from the construction and painting going on so the elevator is basically essential to get up to the apartments (i live there) There is only one elevator to conserve space for the apartments but this elevator is well maintained but it has this problem where the elevator suddenly shakes and stops because of the doors opening before it even gets to stop it is a really common occurence.It does most of the time fix it's self and goes to the nearest floor to fully open the doors and it doesn't take long at all like maybe 2 to 3 minutes but if it takes longer there are air holes on the top of the cab which lets ventilation in. Does anyone know why this happens?
