Silly that they cut it, since it explains things.

Enjoyed this reaction - nice to see you have the G1 DVD (as do I) I don't really understand what you mean by "extracting subtitles" though... Anyway, I like this episode (it was the second G1 episode I saw), but I agree that it has a rushed ending - especially as they could have easily just gone with it being a fake out, and Catrina's just saying she'll turn good because she's in danger anyway, since that would fit the scene (though, it is possible that, that moment where it looked like she was still evil, and then she destroyed the machine might have been the potion - it's been a while, but I think they made it look like it had an affect on her, so she may have had to regain control for a moment, but I still agree it's rushed.) The pony who looks like Rarity is Baby Glory - Glory herself is in "Rescue at Midnight Castle", she is slightly the inspiration for Rarity. The official inspiration for Rarity is Sparkler - she's the blue (apparently silver in the toyline) pony who was unfair with Sundance. Lauren wanted to use Sparkler, but had to create (G4) Rarity, who ended up being a combination of Sparkler and Glory in her appearance (with a G3 name.) As I said in the stream, it is a shame that this is all Sparkler gets in the cartoon, as she isn't portrayed well here, though I get they needed to have somebody be unfair to Sundance so we'd sympathize with her, but it would have been nice if Sparkler had gotten more episodes to show she can be better than this... Sorry for the long comment.

@@MJN_SEIFER When I said “extracting the subtitles”, I’m indicating the process I did beforehand on the computer in order to see the subtitles on screen. The Complete Series has a [CC] symbol which means subtitles but that kind are called “closed captions” and they’re different from the ordinary subtitles you can switch on and off anytime. The G1 DVD has subtitles but they’re unavailable to access through any DVD player so I had to decode the subtitles out of the episodes and then apply them afterwards in VLC Player in order to see them. 👍

The Designs in Escape From Catrina are closer to the toy designs. The Ponies might not look that way, But Megan & Spike closely resemble their figures. And it's only this special. They go back to the Rescue at Midnight Castle character models for the movie and Series

I haven't watched this G1 reaction I bet it will be good like escape from nightmare castle and the Somnabula episode. Also sorry I missed the stream and there are still some about G1 I don't know about because I watched g4 first but watched g1 too late. So I'm glad that you watching more of g1 so I can watch and learn more about the generation I know less about.

@@FaolanCortez thank you this episode was pretty good but Katrina is a villain I think I feel like shouldn't get reformed to quick. But I really like the baby ponies and Megan and I like that there's a baby pony that named moon dancer like moon dancer in friendship is magic.

I'm afraid it's "Midnight Castle", though "Nightmare Castle" sounds cool too, and would make sense as the Little Ponies have "Dream Castle". :) Also, it's never too late to check out a My Little Pony Generation - hope you enjoy G1. :)

You got confused and mixed up throughout the episode about which ponies were adults and which ponies were babies. Sundance is an adult pony and only those the ones with the title “Baby” in their names are baby ponies. All ponies who have the same body as Poesy are adult ponies. Sundance does have a baby though, she appears in the theme song and makes her first appearance in the movie. There’s a missing song in the episode which dives into Rep and Catrina’s past. Before Catrina was mean and rotten. They were lovers and she was very, very gentle. It’s a sexist to be honest. Rep prefers her as the sweet cuddly kitten sitting on his knee. Throughout the song Catrina the Witch Cat defends her feminism. This song was edited out of the US version of the episode, the episode you just watched.

@@mystiaviolet6482 That’s funny in retrospect that the baby ponies have to have “Baby” in their names so the audience knows they’re the younger characters. But I guess it’s easier for everyone to understand. 😂 And yeah, I’m now aware that there was a cut song for Catrina out of the DVD I bought. I seriously wish they kept that in despite the sexist undertones. I still knew they were lovers as shown by the ending! 😎

In the toy line, Sundance and Megan are paired together as soul friends and Megan’s Sister Molly is paired together with Baby Sundance. Both girls wearing Megan’s dress that she wore at the parade of costumes (fancy dress) party.

Okay so Mlp n friends, watched like maybe less then 5 episodes so far but I can start to see the appeal. Although having so many multiple part episodes is kinda annoying when I’m so used to having a single episode with a different story each time. Like The End Of Flutter Valley is 10 episodes. WHY does it need 10 parts holy shit they could have cut it down to like 3 parts or something. I just like watching an episode for something different each time. It’s fine to have a build up to the climax but god how long can you drag a plot on for.

For the most part the writers did okay with what they had to work with. And then the ending just went off the deep end.

Although I think the villains in this look like Opaline and the brainwashed dragons Lava and Jade, Catrina looks like a ripoff of my girl Allura, and I also don’t like the rushed ending.
