She refuses to sing about s*x and drugs, has her own principles and stands by them.. it's the main reason why I'm a fan of hers.. Her original music is so good and relatable, and her stripped versions are even better. Thanks for reacting. I saw Faouzia on her 18 stop US tour in 2022. It was mostly smaller clubs. There were 200 people in the Detroit venue. Most were already Faouzia fans, and sang along enthusiastically to everything, including her brand new song. It was fun. Not very expensive. And we were all standing relatively close to the only slightly raised stage. Why is she not more well known? First, it’s just really hard to get well know in music even with a ton of talent. Quite a number of the current crop of young lady singers started on tv, like on Disney channel. Or TV talent shows. Faouzia’s competitions were different. She and co-writer Matt Epp won the Grand Prize in the International Songwriting Competition over 16,000 entries when Faouzia was 16. And she won the Unsigned Only grand prize over 6,000 competitors in Nashville at 17. And she was still going to French high school in rural Manitoba, when she got the call to audition to sing on a David Guetta song. She’d been plugging away with songwriter sessions in LA, and recording on songs with Galantis and French rapper Ninho. And she performed at the Montreux Festival around her 19th birthday. But she was was still studying full time for a Bachelor of Engineering when Covid hit. And she couldn’t travel. There were concerts, including one in Morocco, that had to be cancelled. But she did a song with Kelly Clarkson. And recorded “Minefields” which John Legend agreed to be featured on. That song was released in Oct 2020. , when things still weren’t back to normal. And about a month later, her VP Marketing at Atlantic Records died in a car accident. So while she’s made some major progress, she’s also had some significant setbacks. She took time off school in fall 2022 for the tour. And while she’s released two EP’s, and been nominated twice for Canadian Music awards (Junos) and won in the African Music awards, we are still waiting for her first album. Hopefully, this stint on Singer2024 might finally be the thing that gets her to the next level.

Well observed mate! The reason she is not cursing and dressing modestly is a testimony to her Muslim heritage. Despite her immense talent, these attributes don’t “sell” well in America I guess where it’s all about vulgar lyrics and over sexualisation. I like how China gives her the world stage she deserves, since China is more conservative in that sense. Hope she can break the stereotypes of the western music industry one day and be a role model to young girls in the west too. 🙌🏼

Correction: Faouzia can probably sing better than 99.99% singers in America. She is beyond talented and unique. Would suggest her Desert Rose performance next. Enjoy!

She is well known in America cause I think the showbiz put some conditions (sexy apperence) to a female singer to be a Star... You know why I mean ... She herself mentioned that in one of interview ... In China she met showbiz that respect her as she is : a queen singer season songwriter piano player with morrocan background. Stay safe

I think she’s not getting big in the industry cuz they like to sexualize women and she’s Muslim she always wears covered clothes and doesn’t really swear in her songs or covers and I hope she never change for them
