if u only knew how spot on u were analyzing Faouzia...it's crazy watching u analyzing it on the fly, as u listen to it. I couldn't help but to write about it. u said: "there's such a contemporary feel to her sound but then she has Old Darker Vintagey feel to it." that comes from u studying & mastering ur craft of voices. Bravo to u Jennifer! She started singing at a very young age by singing her dad's favorite old songs. that's where she developed quick first-vibrato then straight comes from! and, as she grew up listening to Adel, Cia, Lady Gaga, Arianna Grande, & many more, is where she developed that poppy-contemporary sound. Again spot on girl! Faouzia is a natural singer and has had no vocal training She has trained classically in piano, & she's multi instrumentalists. She writes & co-writes her music & lyrics! She speaks & sings in three languages fluently (English, French, & Arabic) her parents moved from Morocco to Canada when she was 1 year old. She's 22 (in April 2023) & about to finish her engineering degree at University (her dad told her to do it, just in case music doesn't fan out!) lol She has millions of followers, it all began when she posted her first song on Tiktok when she was 17, called "this Mountain", which u reacted to it already. it was done on her budget mic & piano played by her & recorded, & singing at her home. the song went viral, & the rest is history! Faouzia is able to sing seamlessly through her registers and with her melodic arrangements and strong vocals gives her audience a rich emotional performance ! her deep old vintage chest voice is out of this world & comes easy for her. she puts emotions into her songs & with her stage confidence makes her videos pleasant to watch. She has so many original songs she wrote & composed... she also covered few songs that are better than original singer! some of her songs: Habibi (my love), RiP Love, 100 Band-ades, Elon, The Road, How it All Works Out, another great song, she featured John Legend: Minefields you Don't Even Know Me, is another great song. She was 18 when she sang it. here's Faouzia with her piano singing it in a basement (it looks like it): Enjoy and thank u in advance. Much love kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJKlg4xshb6Bgqs

Faouzia has one of the most unique vocal timbres out there. She's a marvel 😎
@davidphillips44762 жыл бұрын
Love Faouzia. Her stripped down versions are so much better than many of the studio created versions. she has such a unique vibrato to go with her tone quality, it's kind off haunting. IMO she is just one of those special vocalist that the less instrumentation the better she is because that voice IS the most important instrument. Loved the analysis as usual, you do great vocal nerd outs!! Love that.

@ryannixon71742 жыл бұрын
Larry Pifer I would certainly put her in the category of the best singers. There are very few artists who can change registers as quickly and fluently as her and combine genres as strongly as she does.

She is definitely one of the best out there vocally, especially in her generation.

You can definitely hear the Arabic influence from her Moroccan background, and on top of it all she is self-taught, and in school for engineering. You should check out the stripped version of You don't even know me if you want to hear some belting.

In addition to all of the incredible things she's doing with her voice she freaking wrote this song at eighteen. I m super excited you've discovered her as I really think she's a generational talent who deserves to make it big. Looking forward to more reactions to her (and So Hyang too!)

So we’re in sync again 😅 my next upload is Faouzia - You don’t even know me. I just picked at random cause someone said they wanted «anything from Stripped», and I almost picked this title haha. Faouzia is such an interesting vocalist! And she does have a vintage and contemporary sound at the same time, that’s so well said. And lol, your 🤪 face hahahah. Great analysis and I love your demos too!

I've never heard of Faouzia before.. but holy CRAP!! She is amazing! Her vibrato in the middle of her phrases, then sliding right after on the next word, it's not what you'd normally expect. Makes us pay more attention to it, our brains can't go on autopilot. So cool!

I so waited for another reaction from you to one of my fav singers Jenn ! This is by far the most in depth analysis of this song I have ever heard ! You broke this song down to its bones and I'm so so happy ! This was a performance that Faouzia did a couple of years ago when the pandemic was evident! Unfortunately there is no live audience there but it is a magnificent concert ! Faouzia wrote most of the songs including "Tears of Gold " ! Her voice is so unique in that she sings so comfortably in her registers ! As you have noticed she is a vocal athlete in that her vocal agility is off the charts ! Jenn if you didn't know she has had no formal vocal training that is kind of unreal ! I love her voice because in most of her songs she incorporated her Moroccan influences into her music ! So so talented as a songwriter because her lyrics are so relatable to her audience ! I got so excited when I knew you were going to react to Faouzia ! I got my glass of wine and sat down in front of my big screen to enjoy your performance and also Faouzia's vocals ! It made my day ! Faouzia is a hidden talent in Canada and not well known yet but she has finally been nominated for breakout artist of the year but she finished second ! Sadly she will become a great international artist outside of Canada that seems always to be the case with Canadians ! I don't see anyone who has her talent in Canada but that my own opinion ! Jenn I would like you react to other songs from this stripped concert if you can in the future ! Thank you I appreciate your continued excellence in analyzing the artists on your channel ! 👍🤗🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️

6:55 that vibrato during the word with a clean ending is also common with Aurora. Both absolute geniuses of emotional expression. There is no way not to feel what they convey. Faouzia seems to me to combine the vocal skills of Lara Fabian with the self assurance of uniqueness of Aurora, and to somehow lean hard into the best pop-rap traditions of Christian Aguilera and Jessie Reyes.

@@larrypifer1103 while I agree that both of these singers rely on vocal runs and tricks and ‘gimmicks’ as one might call them, I believe they are both incredibly gifted and talented singers. It takes years of hard work and dedication to be able to sing as they do.

This is my favorite vocal analysis of this song I've seen. You are so enthusiastic and excited about it! I'm an amateur singer at best, and the part that blows my mind is how much she accomplishes in one breath without it getting weak and awful. One analysis said "she takes a breath in the middle of a word and then doesn't breath for another 14 min" (about her song "You don't know me" haha) which is how I feel about everything she does. Just for your own fun... in Faouzia's song "Don't call me pretty" this crazy talented woman takes a breath after "that" in "the power that you hold" ... she does this whole crazy part where as she's running out of breath she is getting louder and higher pitched and doesn't take another breath until after "don't tell me I'm pretty" what in the FUCK. (link goes to about 2:00) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2STp2SLmNtqpM0 Also in the chorus of that song every time, she jumps an octave at the very end of her breath phrase and I'm just.................. how. were you made in a lab. what is this.

This is one of the best reaction on this Faouzia master piece, that I believe will remain in the musical annals for a very long time. It deserves to be studied again and again by all vocalists and singing enthusiasts. "Elon" is another one suggested by all the fans, but you can also react to any of her stripped version in the same concert. One of the very intriguing songs where Faouzia expose the power of her voice and singing is "You don't even know me". Her covering of other songs is completely stunning (Blue: Eiffel 65..Da Ba Dee) or Middle child of J.Cole. She deserves more recognition, but ...Thank you for your reaction.

Great reaction - I love how thorough you are! A few ideas: 1) You should check out her performance of this same song that she did a few months later for an "Arab Heritage" Tiktok livestream. I think it's even better but she made some subtle (to me) stylistic changes. 2) At the end of this same concert she did a song called "Elon" that is most people's favorite, it seems. Check it out! 3) Finally, she just did a live stream for Amazon/Twitch last week that you can find on KZbin - those songs would be GREAT for you to react to. Thanks!

Interesting, I hadn’t heard her before, she does have a very nice tonality and vocal range, that said have you ever heard Yma Sumac? She was reputedly able to sing 41/2 octaves! Having looked at who you’ve looked at I think that there’s a band that is different enough to be interesting! Please don’t listen to them before you react! They are a band called Jinjer, they are Ukrainian and have appeared on the same shows as Nightwish. Their singer Tatiana has an amazing voice, a good track to listen to first is Pieces preferably the live version from Waken 2013 alternatively the studio version. It’s great to see a Brit reaction, the American ones are getting up my nose 😂

She has a feel here similar to Jessie Reyes which isn't surprising as they're both Canadian and that's a bit of a thing that sound, rapid rap like staccato vocals leading to long wails and difficult emotional vocalizations. Alanis kind of broke this sound into the mainstream & all these singers grew up hearing Jagged Little Pill. When a particular place where an artist tends to go to get known - in this case Toronto - has any distinctive sound, as say Seattle did in the 90s or London in the 60s mod era - it's cool to see how people blend it with every other background, particularly in immigrant-rich cities where most people were literally born outside the country.
