Bhaiya, unfortunately I got a year back due to absents in BTech due to some reasons. Will going for MTech from a reputed college be a good option now? Will a year back in BTech affect the placements after MTech (CSE Branch)?

Hello, i have managed to get the workstation uploaded on GeM portal from the seller but they haven't released my research grant yet, i received my award letter on March last week this year and its been more than a month now, they haven't released any budget for cycle 10 (this is what people in scholarship section told me). Do you have any idea how long they normally take in releasing the research grant for a financial year? Its been more than a month now since the start of this financial year. Thank you

Ohh you got selected this March..then bro u have to wait. It depends on institute when they will release. In KGP we have to wait for one year.

@@kishalaydas they haven't prepared the budget for this Q1 23-24 yet. I mailed pmrf support directly in IIT madras they told me the budget is under process they'll inform whenever it gets approved from the ministry. It's been 1 and a half months since start of Q1 i think it should get approval by this month only.

You have to apply. Institute will let you know once you join and application is open.

As far as I remember, you need 8.5 in phd courses. No restriction on mtech. Check website for the recent criteria

Yes i think you are. You are doing phd form pmrf granting institute that's enough. I actually forgot the detailed instructions. Read the instruction pdf and talk with department. I would recommend send your name. If you are not eligible they will inform you or reject you. In that case u can apply for lateral, which is straight forward.

If you join any pmrf granting institute for PhD (with or without mtech), you are eligible if you have the gate rank and cgpa criteria fulfilled

If I'm direct PhD student, and selected in pmrf, will I get arrears of last 2 years ? If not then what will happen? What will be my starting stipend 70000 or 75000 or something else?

And what about integrated PhD students, I heard they only get pmrf till 4th year of PhD , so for eg in IISc through lateral entry, integrated PhDs have 2 years of initial coursework ie till 24 months, so technically they'll get only 2 yrs of pmrf. Am I right? This is actually not much beneficial because in iisc integrated PhD takes around 7 yrs ig ( 2 for initial coursework+ 2 for jrf + 3 for srf)

Nope not required...only you need 8.5 as cgpa and good research proposal and recommendations

First check whether IIT BHU is a PMRF granting institute or not. If it is, you can apply for direct entry now and lateral after one year of PhD. I would recommend talk with admin dept regarding the details

yes dada IIT BHU comes under pmrf granting institute, it is just I have had a year gap, so will I be able to avail pmrf in lateral entry , because I did my MSC from PMRF granting institute -University of Hyderabad

@@sebanandabhaina8270 year gap doesn't matter. You can apply. But first you are eligible for direct while joining phd. After one year or 6 months you are eligible for lateral

Btech/Mtech institute wont matter. If you join a PMRF granting institute you can apply.

Lateral Entry is not difficult as well as easy. getting 8.5 is not trivial, you need to do some work, but its managable. Also you need to do some sort of research before applying becoz u need to submit Research Statement.
