One thing that stands out about Tinman is his simplistic approach and his adherence to fundamentals. Many other channels make things too complex as if it makes them look and feel superior to others. Ditch the ego and be open to new learning. Tinman is humble, bluntly honest and freely admits that his ways and methods are not the only way but what works for him. Great video Tinman!👍

I watch as many of your vids as I can, whether for learning or entertainment. My pooch went to dog heaven about a month ago, and that whole cut away saw series kept me thinkin' enough to not drown in a puddle lol, so I kinda laughed when you mentioned the part about someone having a good day. Thanks for that.👍

Another reason your saw runs faster when you first start it up is because you have to tune the saw a little rich at idle to keep it running when it's cold. Once the saw warms up it actually starts running a bit too rich at idle and slows down, because now it's out of tune having been set to idle properly when it's cold. If you set it for perfect tune at idle when it's warmed up, it will be hard to keep it running at idle when it's cold because it will want to lean stall. So the mixture setting has to be set at a compromise between the two temperature ranges.

When you get old and need to make just a few cuts and your choices are 066, 2800, 460, 440, 038 and 025, which do you pick? Yep 025, 24" bar, 3/8 chain.

You’re not kidding about 60+ cc saws. I have nothing but love for my 55 Husky, once I discovered that I had CAD, I rarely run it or my MS192T. My 268XP is probably my favorite to run all day.

Excellent Sir! I am working on a Husqvarna 440 and wondered why the plastic recoil part was so torn up. It jerks back terribly when when it stops, but I'm not here to ask for help about that. The few times it has started, I had to screw out the spark plug to make it easy enough to start. While running, I screw in that plug, and it kills it. Something is really messed up with this thing, but it is my next research project, and you are my teacher. Best wishes sir. - North Central Florida

Great video, FAQ with the Tinman, life on the prairies and chainsaws. Living life at its best. booyah... maybe a future video on piston window mods. Harvey did a great video just curious of you take on cleaning up the piston, when to do, why to do it, how to do it, what advantage is there in doing it and of course what not to do. Or selecting the proper mag/coil combination when throughing together a saw. Carbration sizing scaling the proper carb to the proper cc saw. Just thinking out loud hope to hear your thoughts. Just a my two sense on on the size of saws and bar length I have a full range of saws from a stihl 180 right to a husky 394 and the ms 180 (31cc) with a 16' bar is my most used (would be the 026 (44cc) if it would start better at -30). Im up in northern Manitoba small swamp spruce. as a trapper and a dog musher I maintain all my own trail systems through the heavy forest. So I always have a power saw with me to clear dead falls off the trails. To pack the heavy 039 or the 394 while clearing or cutting new trails is just too much extra weight. Also space they take up in the sleighs or on the back of a snowmobile is just not ideal. That said though when its time to put up the winters fire wood I take the 039 (65cc) and come time to split wood the 395 is the noodler saw of choice.

yup a local dealer looked at me funny when I wanted at least a 28" bar. [yeah I use a 24' & a 25" too] but prefer the 28" Im 6'6" - yeah Im lazy and havnt liked bending over for years - the car dealers insist "their" car/suv will fit me! I laugh I try a car on to see how it fits? that is question #1 for me. like a glove? or boot needing a shoe horn? If it fits? then I see if it starts ;) my bar needs to be a 28" do my quest is to find a good ole 60+cc pro saw that fits me. ;) * yeah I have learned a lot from you & other yt vids about holding the rope before a shut down. Thank you for that "show & tell" explanation

Hi, I love your videos and am learning plenty new things about the saws. I've grown up with Stihl and Echo's, but looking at a Husqvarna 50 Rancher here in Australia at the moment. Looks barely used and mint, so thinking of giving it a go, the price is right. Anything to look for when checking one of these over? I'm a bit like you and enjoy using the older stuff. A way of recycling, or up-cycling if you will. I love the fact that the older saws are easily worked on and repaired, instead of throwing a carby or whatever a way and bolt on a cheap new one. Not a fan of the throw away society. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, what do you think of the Husqvarna 50 Rancher?
