It's just the best version of this famous song. For me better then the original. I remember when i saw them on German TV, Live. I was 22, in Switzerland and i was fascinated, and the next day go and did buy the CD. I still have the CD Album. So many other great songs on that CD from Far Corporation.

This is like a guilty pleasure for me. They did a bunch of things that never should have been done, but with such commitment. Outright stealing the 'comin in the air tonight' drums, combining synth and real choirs, afro latin percussion on the quiet sections. I hate myself for loving it, but I do love it

There have been many covers of STH over the years but this version just blows all others out the water. "What,...you must be crazy,...a cover of Stairway to Heaven,....it better be good". And this is the result, an outstanding performance that surpasses the original in every way, the instruments, the vocals, even the hand claps and smoke bombs, simply mesmerising. Whoever is thinking of doing another cover,....forget it.

Bin damals Nachts wach geworden, konnte nicht mehr einschlafen und habe den Fernseher angemacht. Viel zu Zappen gabs nicht bei 5 Sendern. Dieses Konzert wurde gerade übertragen und ich habs dann mit Kopfhörer ( war erst 16 und die Eltern sollten nicht aufwachen ) völlig begeistert geschaut :-) Die LP von damals habe ich immer noch. Ein Meilenstein :-)

@@geoffreyevans5598 Actually It's Bobby singing at the end (he was playing keyboards earlier in the song while Robin was singing). This also has Steve Lukather on guitars and David Paich on keyboards, all three of whom are from Toto. This was an amazing collaboration IMO as Bobby and Robin are two of my favorite vocalists. The first two MSG albums with Robin on vocals (in other words, not MSG - Michael Schenker Group) are also two of my favorite albums.

Mit dem Projekt Far Corporation, an dem unter anderem Bobby Kimball, David Paich und Steve Lukather von der US-Band Toto sowie der Schlagzeuger Curt Cress und Leslie Mandoki beteiligt waren, spielte Farian überwiegend Rockklassiker wie Stairway to Heaven von Led Zeppelin, Sebastian von Cockney Rebel und Mother and Child Reunion von Paul Simon ein. Stairway to Heaven war dabei mit dem achten Platz in der britischen Hitparade (1985) der größte Erfolg.

Ich glaube hier haben sie schnell für den Fernsehauftritt, nicht die komplette Besetzung sondern paar „Nebendarsteller“ genommen. Da (Halb) Playback, kann’s auch so klappen.

I remember the BBC saying that "Robert Plant and Jimmy Page both thought this was great, and I guess they'd know" when this came out, didn't get much airplay at all the the states. So most people didn't even know it existed. Case in point. When I got back from Iraq in 2004, I was at a bar talking to a few of my friends and this girl came up and wanted to know all kinds of stuff. Since I was the only person she had ever met who was in the war. I met up with her at her apartment. She was a 24 year old SSG who had gotten out and felt that more was happening than they were letting Americans know. We got high, and I had my MP3 player with this on it and I put it on. She was mesmerized and listened to it three times back to back. I told her, this song is older than you are.

Bobby Kimball und die damalige Lebensgefährtin von Frank F. waren in 1993 in meiner Praxis, sehr nette Leute. Als Geschenk gab es eine CD und Postkarte aus New York mit Original-Autogrammen. -> Kai Wolf: Stimmt, kenne ich doch das Original und eines der besten Coverversion, die ich je gehört habe!
