I know that I’ve finished this game a good 8 months ago but I came back to this video to watch it and saw this comment I pretty sure that at the start of the game a person from a radio betrays you and that the whole nuke this on the radio are just lies to encourage people from wherever this game was taken place (sorry I last played it 7 moths ago) and the whole fire thing and nuke dropping is just a hallucination from the boss fight

The thing that astounded me most and my first thought with this ended was during John Seeds death scene when he said “Everyone thinks [Joseph] is crazy, but what if he’s actually right? Did you ever stop and think about that?” And that quote right there really gave me chills because the whole game he’s made out to be a lunatic when in reality he was ACTUALLY a sort of prophet who foresaw the end of the world (at least WW3). He absolutely didn’t drop or trigger the nukes himself. The timing wasn’t coincidental either, he simply literally knew the second it would happen. Amazing villain. Chilling ending

What do you mean “how”? Didn’t you play the game? In the news reports on the radio, the broadcast states various issues going down outside of the US, such as Russia being bombed and North Korea being silent and refusing to negotiate. Joseph didn’t bomb Russia. Now he may have used the actions going on outside the US to further his beliefs, but he didn’t cause the nukes to fall.

If I'm not mistaken, New Dawn took place 17/18 years after FC5, that's a pretty long time, Red Cross could've been rebuilt, the military, humanitarian aid from Elon Musk's colony on Mars, maybe even the Brotherhood of Steel, besides, we don't know if it was a global war or just a closed nuclear exchange between the USA and Russia, other countries might survive. As for the message, I guess the message is: 'you're not always right' or 'don't judge a prophecy by their cult'. Oh and, we don't know what happened in the other ending, the bombs could've dropped as well, but we don't see it. Edit: As for the empty silos, the military could've cleaned them ages ago and there were misinformation thrown around, I mean, 3 nukes in some unprotected small county in the middle of nowhere? Sounds pretty dangerous to me. Or you are right, Seed blew them up, the government thought it was the Russians, pretty possible.

The animals and trees that caught fire was caught in the blast which the characters were too far away to get the brunt of. 3. Once the actual blast is over, it is possible to drive that close. You`d need to hurry though.

The ending itself is not bad. It's just very anti-climatic. Debris would have killed or injured them, They all would have been blinded temporarily, They were all exposed to insane amounts of radiation and would have died in a few minutes, The blast wave would have blasted them onto the ground, and so much more. There's radio broadcasts throughout the game that explain nuclear tension was going on throughout the world taking place while all of 5 was occurring. Joseph was right in predicting that the world would end and it did when you go to arrest him. Hopefully this isn't the end because I really want to see another Far Cry take place after this game. If it does take place before 5, then who cares what happens in it, because the world's going to fucking end.

I just read the wiki.... and the nuclear holocaust in the Resist ending is canon to the events of Far Cry: New Dawn, which takes place 17 years after Far Cry 5. This means that the nuclear holocaust inevitably happens anyway, whether you choose the Resist ending or not.

Warning, a bit of a text wall. I interpret it like that: It's not some divine power, it appears to be fucking nukes. Playing the game itself you get some underlying context of shitty news and a "bad world situation" or something comparable. In short or less abstract, I think it's basically WW3 or something akin to it, with some (super)power or several slinging nukes around. That they even hit Montana or that county several times might tell a lot and imply a lot more got fucked. In short, if I get it right and since the game plays in its own little isolated microcosmos: no matter what you do, if you leave right at the beginning without arrest, or fight and then leave when you get the second chance, or fight till the bitter end, nukes would hit anyway, assuming it's actually WW3. *The endings* Only difference of the endings is survival chance or your character and then maybe your cop colleagues. In the first "non-arrest" ending, you could be whereever by the time nukes would hit. If you never make the arrest, you could either be outside the valley / game world and follow the news or maybe, since you never try the arrest, the cult would not go crazy and overrun the valley, meaning you could likely be in the valley without the conventional roads blocked and radio towers cut or signals blocked somehow. You could maybe notice the warnings and prep or just not get a notable warning in advance an die due to not being close to any suitable bunker. Then you have the two endings near the, well, end. If you leave when you get the second chance, nukes would hit soon after anyway, likely killing you - or maybe you get into the bunker in time from the other direction, without the crazy guy, so you'd survive with Dutch and your colleagues. But there's a little problem: Your "song trigger" where you presumably start to go nuts in the car and kill or hurt the others? And then there's the "big ending" where just you two remain. Go figure. -------------------------- In retrospect, no matter how crazy or harsh the cult acts once things go wild (or if they don't go wild), there was something I wondered about when playing the game: Each time you defeat some "boss" or leader, you end up destroying those major bunkers. I was like "damn, you could've used those bunkers yourself with the resistance!" Now in retrospect and with the nukes hitting, it's even more grim. No matter if the "resistance" or "cult" would've used the bunkers, with or without a notable nuke warning in advance: they're gone by that time and in essence, almost everyone not being able to run into smaller local bunkers in time dies. The cult, being a modern ark or noah or something to some extend, would've at least made sure that humans remain in the area afterwards or for some prolonged time. They had the big bunkers and their faith to keep them from going nuts. This can now be questioned, as all the infrastructure they had is gone. Heck, by the end, most of the cult is gone. Okay, seriously, enough thinking about it before the comment gets longer, but it was an interesting game, surely. *And it highlights the horrors of nuclear war at the end* Do we want that in reality? No.

The horrors of nuclear war...yeah I was kinda disappointed on that front. Everything else fit, but the second flash would have melted away everyone’s eyes and caused their skin to catch fire. That’s what Hiroshima survivors talk about; the burned wandering aimlessly with their burnt skin sloughing off. If their eyes didn’t melt in the flash, they would be hanging out in the wake of the shockwave. The burned would wander holding up their arms to prevent agonising rubbing of exposed flesh; they would look like zombies to us. These wretched folk would whisper for water until they died of shock; but their suffering could be mercifully shortened by giving them what they ask for. The real thing is unspeakably horrific, and yet game developers should have considered some of this stuff; it would help promote nuclear disarmament. Maybe help antinuclear resistance movements to prevent the real thing from happening. Look up John Bolton, his track record of wanting to bomb North Korea, and his new role in the White House. This whole thing might happen for real.

Actually, it's pretty realistic. Remember that Hope County is one giant valley. As long as the nukes went off behind the mountains, they'd be fine. No being instantly scorched alive (although the air temperature was heating up fast, so they couldn't stay around long), the flash of light wouldn't affect them. The only things that would probably affect them was the shockwave and the radiation. But radiation takes 15-30 minutes to fall after a nuke, so none of them have cancer.

If I'm not mistaken Russia got bombed by North Korea, Russia was confused and asked NK for explanation but NK was going silence, refusing to negotiate or explain anything. Russia felt NK betrayed their alliance. US respond by declaring war on North Korea, then the nuke started

It’s kinda messed up considering if you listen to the news in game it gets progressively worse until there’s been nukes in Moscow and NK has gone silent. This region the game is in is also home to a lot of America’s ballistic missiles (John and Faith’s bases are old silos for missiles) so the multiple nukes was likely to show there’s nuclear sites being struck. That and it looks cool as fuck
