I saw your comment 20 minutes ago. After spending the first 5 minutes confirming what you said to be true, and then booting the game up to figure out how the hell I missed this, I spent the last 15 minutes kicking myself in the head, back and arse. I never thought to go back and talk to the expeditions chap. The game never told me to so I never bothered. I can't believe I missed this. Thank you for exposing my stupidity 😅

I think the game had good concepts. But as tends to be the case with Ubi they don't expand on them. Either in this game or future ones. I would puy it down to the fact this was such a small and off-center "expansion," but once again, the concepts aren't used again.

I got New Dawn as someone who actually kinda liked FC5 since I hadn’t played FC since 3 as well as liking both Fallout and Mad Max - yet somehow this entire entry in the far cry series was a complete miss for me. A bit disappointing but not unexpected. Amazing vid!

That weird silencer you mention when talking about the lack of gun customization is an oil filter, which can actually be used as a suppressor if you attach it with a muzzle adapter and drill through the center. Source: I'm a rural American Also I'm loving this series! Sorry you had to slog through the entire game; I could only stand three hours of it myself.

Interesting. I'm always dubious about makeshift silencers in games and films after Max Payne 3 taped a plastic bottle to his muzzle. Good information to have in case of a zombie apocalypse or if I suddenly become an assassin or something!

Fun fact: if you skip dialogue, they npc will say "yeah i understand you dont want story" or "looks like you dont have time"

Yeah I've since learned about that. Apparently you have to go back and talk to the helicopter pilot in Prosperity, which I never felt the need to because you only have to go back there to upgrade the base.

This game is my go-to when I want to just do some stealth Far Cry outpost clearings and expeditions. Easily repeatable, and the super powers add a lot of replayability

I liked Maria Guerra side story in the game lol, in fact I think that would make a cool spin off for the series... since she got unlocked I had her with me all the time, her lines were hillarious. unfortunatly on the final bosses arenas she got locked again and left outside, shame!

I got NewDawn as it looked like a nice little game to get into the FarCry series. I like games that take as series and do something special with them ( like AC Syndicate). I modded it which made it a bit better in terms of progression and got rid of the pink stuff :) Not being able to compare the game to other entries in the series, I actually mostly liked it at first, nice presentation and known mechanics :) But I really disliked the later missions that just screamed JANK from everywhere, there hardly was an hour where I didnt look up online how to progress. The end of the story is also very confusing, I couldnt wait to uninstall. Since modern Ubisoft isnt for me, I got FarCry 3 a month ago and like it so far :)

I will say that for the Far Cry 6, I want to tell you that, in case you did not know, there were originally three strains of missions that are reference to other media or to person. One of them is for Danny Trejo. However, for reasons I don’t know beyond copyrights being expired or something, the Danny Trejo mission is no longer available. And those who finished that mission still have rewards from that mission, but if you were to replay Far Cry 6 on a different save or playing the game for the first time, you wouldn’t be able to play the mission. Thought I mentioned it because I did not know about it till afterwards.

Dishonored 2 tried something similar with its villain. At some point there is some kind of reveal about Delilah having been mistreated because of her lesser social station. But that comes after a coup and half of the palace guards having been slaughtered. It's nothing new, really. Just the kind of bad writing that seems to follow some kind of template for how you are supposed to do these things without any understanding of proper execution. You also just need to be committed to it. If it's not important then there is no point in having it, because doing in a half-assed manner will just come across as cheap and manipulative.

This game showed at least ONE hairstyle I can confirm has been used by multiple games and I suspect studios aren't above using some assets modified to work with their game. Public domain isn't just for the public. The one I refer to is the tight dual braids resting forward on the shoulders. I have it in a couple other games already - made before this.

I genuinely enjoyed New Dawn. The writing on some characters and the villains was really _really_ bad. But looking past that with the actual gameplay loop and all the things added onto it make a really neat game! Kinda actually liked getting the outposts re-taken cause I enjoyed the stealth and takedowns. Strange I know. Expeditions were really cool and gave off an "Play your own action movie" vibe. You're totally right about the modern design of the game. I may or may not have played a special version that was offline and took out the microtransactions though so that could have swayed me more. Final boss sucks though lol

One thing that is near impossible to account for are the people making/playing games. One year's difference in age is enough to change how people see the world as what they use to learn the life lessons is rarely the same with that difference escalating rapidly as options to do so increase. In other words no matter how much I may aspire to see things through their eyes or walk in their shoes - it's impossible and I must use those things which make me unique to understand the best I can regardless of opinion. Given enough time the differences are more than one is willing to adapt to and then we get our 'generations' which are ridiculous to those sharing the 'cusps'.

Quite the amusement park that one. Console madness comes to PC in full glory. 1 was serious while 2 was, interesting. Solid mechanics and 'some' reward for exploration which was hard to find with 58% of the map made of roads. I have yet to feel like installing again, unlike the FC games.

This game was so weird, the borderlands damage numbers and level system makes no sense in the FC framework. Like you said, just forced grind in the hopes you'd pay to skip it.

Another shitty thing removed from FCND was new game plus, you're telling me in the final chapter I get a double jump and have already grinded 75% of the outposts (3x) and beaten 75% of the missions. You know what would be a fun twist on the sometimes repetitive FC formula? STARTING THE GAME AS A SUPER HERO with better stealth, combat, and jumping mechanics. It's basically another game once you get the double jump, but they left out new game plus so you could buy micro transactions. I didnt love (or hate) new dawn but i CERTAINLY would have replayed it if i could keep all my god tier guns and abilities

This kind of thing seems to be incredibly common. I'm guessing with the sheer mass of various forms of popular entertainment it's to be expected. Also, who cares as long as it makes money.

I want to see FC go back to the jungles. Let me set trap build pits and have me outgunned. While having fun, not too serious story. I want fishing huts next to crystal clear water. Jet ski's, jeeps, hell, maybe even the ability to nick a chopper or two. As BS as they got towards the end, give me instincts/Predator with todays graphics and slightly less psychic AI, and I'd be happy. Especially if they give you the ability to lure single guards into the bushes and slit his throat. I wanna RAMBO in the JUNGLE. But if i mess around too much, i will be outgunned. Give me a choice, male.or female merc. I dont need birfht pink hair, etc, just a cheesy jungle base 80's acrion movie.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't stand the trend of games using bright vibrant colors to extenuate its "quirkiness". Absolutely cringey design choice. I like to refer to them as Bubblegum Punk Slop.

6 has player levels, but the game is fairly easy even on "action mode" how they call it, so as long as you're not about about 4lvl behind (skulls start showing up), even "red" enemies are manageable. Also, you'll be sent into a red zone in the prologue - don't bother trying to grind out the level, it's intentional. I tried doing everything in the appropriate zone, wasn't enough to get me out of the red. weapons have stars that dictate how many mods you can put on them. No major actual stat difference from what I could tell, but a 4* gun definitely felt better than a 1*. also I'll save you the disappointment and say right away that snipers are ENTIRELY useless in that one lol also-also, none of that ranked takedown shite. you can even stealth-kill skulls as normal if you ever want to.

Yeah I've gotten a few hours into it now, though I never realised that the number rating for weapons referred to the number of mod slots, so thank you! It feels like levels are kinda pointless in this game, that they don't really mean anything. Occasionally they increase but I haven't noticed any difference in difficulty yet.

npnp :) Far as I could tell, player levels only unlock more stuff to buy in shops. but the way the game showers you with loot anyway, the new unlocks were completely pointless by the second region.

I honestly play that game on Story Mode just to make the guns make more sense. Multiple headshots to take down an enemy is too immersion-breaking for me.

How dare you! I played (and in fact still own) FarCry on Xbox. I wasnt in the PC Masterrace at the time and genuinely thought it was and port of the ACTUAL FarCry game. Needless to say I could see what all the PC fanboys were getting stiffys over seemingly unaware its a completely different game...

The first was a tech demo they wanted to show off and needed to make up something to get it on the shelves. With that 'foundation' we can see why the game doesn't really have it's own identity beyond similar game systems used in different releases. I have NO problem with this - it's a palette for creative freedom and not everyone likes all art.
