funny thing about the Wenja language: it feels as though it was crafted with the goal of feeling home-y, familiar to any and all languages in the world. Its wild that Indo-European language speakers can feel a kinship to it just as much as i can as a Ugric language family speaker hell, even Hurk's ancestor, Urki is a name we use amongst ourselves as a nickname for one friend when his given christian name doesnt feel right.

21:38 the Udam are clearly Neanderthals who were the peoples that lived in Europe before the arrival of the Indo European peoples, the game depicts the Wenja (a fictional tribe of early Indo European people) conquering the land of Europe from the Udam neaderthals and competing with other early Indo European peoples (the Izila).

This is one of the sad things about the big publishers now, they won't take risks anymore. A lot of people have told me that this is their favourite in the series, and if they hadn't have taken a chance on something different then it would never have existed.
@hrafnagu92434 ай бұрын
@@borangedunn I agree. It seems that it's the case with all of entertainment at the moment to no longer take any risks and to just keep making things that already exist. Primal was unique, and in my opinion, only a far cry game in name really. I think that it could've benefited from being it's own stand alone title and given a sequel to give players more content seeing as the first game was great. It's a shame that the game isn't or wasn't more popular as I think it had much potential.
@borangedunn4 ай бұрын
@@hrafnagu9243 Obviously this is based on nothing but imagination, but I reckon if they had have released Primal without the Far Cry name, it wouldn't have sold particularly well but would have been critically acclaimed, and now it would be one of those one-off games that never got a sequel but has a dedicated following.

Happy to see someone else not make a big deal out of the "same map" crap. I even heard about it before starting primal and still i could not recognize a single thing from the previous game. It was such a non-issue blown way out of proportion. Ubisoft has plenty of things you can criticize them for. The map thing was not one of it. Also, for a game set so far in the past, i was surprised how close to any other far cry it felt. I don't know what i was expecting but it wasn't just regular far cry with no guns and the wrong language pack installed.

Far Cry Primal on hardest difficulty with Survivor Mode enabled makes it feel like no other Far Cry game, it's so fucking immersive and PRIMAL. I even go a step further and limit myself to only being allowed to tame Dholes (we had hunting dogs during this period), use the dog as a tool rather than an extra weapon.

Overusing the bow, or going into every situation with the 2h club did not feel as right to me as focusing on stealth takedowns. Once i got into the mindset of maximizing takedowns, playing Primal with stealth as the focus made everything feel... very satisfying. So in some respects, Primal could be viewed as the Far Cry: Stealth Edition.

I'm currently enjoying FC 5 much more than I remember having done previously, and New Dawn is the first game I've never played before, and I'm looking forward to it because opinions seem incredibly conflicted about that one. I do think Primal is such a departure from the standard Far Cry formula, which will massively appeal to some but have the opposite effect to others. But regardless, if you're looking for 10,000 BC vibes, this is pretty much all there is!

One thing I remember regarding this games development that rubbed me the wrong way about the game, was that Ubisoft actually released a poll to the fans asking them what direction they would like to see the next far cry game take. It was a multiples choice and had some really cool and interesting concepts among them. I remember there being like a futuristic sci-fi setting on a different planet, spaghetti western, post apocalyptic setting, winter survival setting, there was even an option that revolved around factions of vampires, but my favorite option was a modern day Jurassic Park-esque far cry game which at the time just seemed to make perfect sense for a far cry setting. All of the potential options sounded really cool and like they'd be bold new and interesting directions to take the series, after Far Cry 4 seemed mostly like a rehash of 3. But in the end, they tossed all of those ideas aside for Primal. Which, to me, seemed far less interesting than everything else they proposed. It just made me wonder why they even bothered with the poll to begin with.

A couple issues I have with some of your criticisms that nobody else has brought up 1. You mentioned how the healing system and abundance of meat means that you won't see the healing animations. This is up to you, the player. If you open the food menu, you are able to set one of the various meat healing options, or the Primal Healing (the famous healing animations) as your quick healing, this means that you can set it up so pressing the heal button will use the Primal animations no matter how much meat you have 2.Just a small thing that irked me, but much of your combat footage involved poking enemies at close range with the Spear, even seemed to include it as part of the problem with the melee combat. They don't do much damage with melee because you are not meant to stab people with them (although in a pinch, if an enemy has gotten too close, charging it *can* stagger them)
@terrylandess6072Ай бұрын
Did you not see the film 10,000 BC? This and that film share an almost identical scene with the mammoth hunt. I guess Quest for Fire needs an honorable mention as the Wenja would be the main tribe, with them fighting the flesh eating tribe which was more ape like and then meeting another tribe which seemed more civilized and had the secret of fire. This was the game which made me realize the amount of asset/idea sharing between the Far Cry IP and the Assassin's Creed IP when the Owl was never seen again in Far Cry, instead becoming the eagle/hawk/raven/whatever in AC. No complaints - I've spent a great deal of time sightseeing as a bird.

This game was great.shame that ubisoft was scared to make it more hardcore survival game which actualy makes the game alot better. They could have made it challanging like the darl souls instead it was easiest game ever. For example the other tribes should have randomly attacked your camp as that was the funnest missions in the game.instead the camp and followers didnt really matter and were only there to allow upgrades for your character.
