Typical of the BBC, when they announced the arrival of BBC 2 on air in 1964, they had severe technical problems and the first day of transmission proved to be a disaster. At the time, I lived with my parents in a multi story block of flats in North Manchester. We had a communal area on the roof, but when BBC 2 started, for the first 6 months to 2 years, the picture quality of the channel was poor for most of the time, it depended on the atmospherics as to the quality of the picture we received, so we never watched BBC 2 much then. Years later, for six months I was living and working in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, on certain days, we'd get interference on channels from Dutch TV or radio, usual football commentaries, meaning we had to change channel. This was in the mid 1970s, when we still only had 3 channels and colour TV was a novelty for most of us. According to records, it wasn't until 1976/77 that more people in the UK had a colour TV licence than had a black and white one.

He got upset at an audience in a, iirc 'leader's special' question time that asked him challenging questions he couldn't answer. He accused the BBC of deliberately choosing a hostile audience against him. Even though iirc he shared that special with the greens and possibly plyd cymru, so only a portion of the audience would have been aligned with reform, the rest would have been the complete opposite to him and his awful party and those people gave him a roasting. Because we all know that he is a chancer with bad ideas and is not actually able to handle cross examination or being put on the spot, he only likes to mouth off his propaganda with no pushback, which is obviously what Kuenssberg does.

Re. misinformation in the media, I like the policy that Germany have: If a news producer releases an article that's found to be inaccurate and are made to correct the record, then the correction must be presented in exactly the same way as the original headline. I.e. if they put out a front page headline in the paper claiming something outrageous and misleading, then when asked to correct it, they're obliged to make front page news of the correction, in the same size text, taking up the same proportion of the page. No hiding it in the footnotes somewhere like UK media does!

Yet small, independents chasing agendas that genuinely in the public interest, will be lambasted by OFCOM for daring to show anything that isn't politically balanced.
