3ddy is somehow the greatest data we have gotten for fighting games in the hottest minute. It's insane how much we kinda learned about players, the game, how people play the game, etc through a bot just spamming one button forever. I can't wait to see other bots get made with this idea concept in mind. There's a lot of potential in the presenting the idea of "This move is super broken and hard to counter" to then go and break it down where it may ONLY do that move. The data, the potential solving, does this move carry the character, etc.

i think the reason 3ddy used 3 and only 3 is that 3 is X on a playstation controller so when 3ddy gets to the "do u want to rematch?" screen, he clicks X, which makes the rematch happen.

An obnoxious string/char is hard for bad players to deal with who would’ve guessed next you’ll tell me 2+2=4
@NrettG8 ай бұрын
@@AuntBibby That's one of the reasons. Plus the creator revealed it only took like 27 lines of python code to run the bot. I imagine that he could create something simple that stops spamming the input around the rematch area if it matches the image provided or something. (Like if he does a Hworang Bot that spams 4 but stops when it see the rematch box to start spamming 3 instead. Simple If statement).

3ddy ending with a 33% win rate is pure poetry
@bigeoof18048 ай бұрын
I wish I could remember where I got it from, but some time ago I heard a quote that went something like "The best KZbin videos will seem like they’re about X, and while they are, they’ll use X to trick you into watching a video about Y." Several of these vids make me think of that quote. The novelty of a script that just uses one button to do the same sequence of attacks as explained by Majin was already enough to get me to click, but hearing the dissection of the further details is what got me to stay and watch the whole thing. What this experiment implies, what can be learned from it, what characters does it work the best or worst on, how it shows that literally mashing can take you further than the "you must be this tall to ride the FG ride" social barrier would indicate. Man these vids are simultaneously so charming and made with character, but also concise and insightful. Such a larger-than-little joy whenever they pop up in my subscription feed. As for what character would I want to see a similar exercise be done with, I don’t have a race in the Tekken horse. So I’ll just say I’d like to see it done with charas on both ends of the social spectrum from "this character eats glue and doesn’t require any skill you just mash and you win" to "you can only play this character if you watch Rick and Morty."

I actually did a similar experiment at the peak of T7 hype a few years back in a set, and I never played T7 until that moment. Just for reference, this was a friend that beat me in a grand finals local in Rev2. I knew this was his first serious Tekken and he was training a lot and going to tournaments. I always knew how to "scrub" with Eddie since T3 on pad as a kid in casuals, even though I picked up stick during SF4 release and never looked back. The last time I actually played Tekken was TTT2 (The GOAT:) and I didn't main Eddie. Anyway, he lost the set to me and I asked him after were you trying, and he said yeah. I'm happy to see someone took this further to highlight a theory I've also had about Tekken. Great video!

I think visually elaborate stance transition moves really set in the panic - even if they're completely fake. Ive had to sit in Practice for characters like Lars and Zafina because I cant just intuitively pick them up the same way I can a character like Dragunov, Paul, Bryan etc. Even if you dont know what those characters can really do - or ehats punishable - it's easier to get a feel for their offense without hitting the lab at lower levels. At least for me.

It obviously has its perks, but improving fundamentals and matchup knowledge in places where "points" aren't at stake is just as good of an investment; and for some players, it's way more fun than ranked. This had some people SALTY, and for the most part you just ignore the salt. However one good point I saw was that this could be showing that Tekken 8 does a poor job teaching newcomers. I think there might be some truth to that, and not just for Tekken 8. There is basically no practical training for people who have never played a fighting game before. And that is a problem. Because while the specific mechanics might change, the core concepts of fighting games can apply to just about any fighting game. Teaching total newcomers the basics shouldnt be something devs have to re-create every game. There should be a core training mode that teaches all the core concepts universal to fighting games, then the stuff that is unique to the game you are playing. Every new release could improve on the teaching of the last, meaning each new generation of fighting game players has a better start, a better foundation, than the last. Instead people are getting 3-0 perfected by a bot spamming one button. Still, I agree with your mostly hopeful take on this Obama. Some people wont learn no matter what, but I think more people learned even without good onboarding, and that is a great thing to see.
