Andy Stanley is in hot water in the evangelical world after his sermon this past Sunday on his view of marriage. Did he cross the line?

He does deny the Gospel by affirming SIN!!!

I do not follow Andy S. I did read a bit of his statement that went viral. When I read his sentence- “Jesus didn’t draw lines” I immediately thought of Jesus said narrow is the way that leads to life and few will be the people who walk on it. The path that leads to destruction is broad. Jesus did not want people on the broad path. Jesus did not want anyone to be tares when the wheat and tares are separated but there are lines of demarcation in the gospel.

I will admit, I need to find out more about what Andy Stanley is saying. However what little I have heard has lead me to disagree with you over him. I agree about what you say about him not being or being a Christian. I like and admire what you say on most subjects But on this subject, I am not sure. The circle statement is not necessarily bad. I am probably going to continue to stand with Andy. I think that he is at least trying to be Christ like in loving all . Instead of condemning, which I see too many people doing.

Being loving and being tolerant are totally different things. Yes, Jesus loved sinners, but he didn't tell them "That's okay, I'm going to love you anyway, so keep on doing what you're doing." He told the man that was healed in the pool of Bethesda "Behold, thou art made whole. Sin no more, lest a worst thing come unto thee, (John 5:14) and he told the woman accused of adultery "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11). And Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees, who accused Jesus of eating and drinking with "publicans (tax-collectors" and sinners", "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

@@j.woodbury412 So can you lose your salvation?

@@johnswansen192 Nowhere in my comment did I say anything about losing your salvation. I was commenting on your statement about Andy Stanley "loving all". Yes, we are supposed to love everybody, but that does not mean we are to condone everything they do, which is what people like Andy Stanley, T.D. Jakes and Joel Osteen do. They're like "Keep on doing what you're doing. It doesn't matter. You're still going to go to heaven." Jesus said "Not everyone that sayeth unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21)

@@j.woodbury412 Sin no more. So my question still remains. What happens if someone says they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior but sins. Can they lose their salvation? I understand that the point is do we say that gays etc. Are not sinners or are sinners. What the Bible is clear about is that all need Jesus. Do those straights who accept Jesus stop sinning? Or do they continue to sin and lose their salvation. Now about gays etc. I hear two point of views. One makes them out to horrible immoral creatures deserving of death, one Pastor said they should all be shot. The other view, Andy's is we should love them, accept them and welcome them into the church. Personally at this point, I honestly, not sure about the sin question. What I do know is that if I have to choose between the two views, I am choosing love over hate and if that endangers my soul, so be it.

@@johnswansen192 No, I don't think you lose your salvation if you sin. We don't become perfect after we sin. The difference is, when we sin, the Holy Spirit convicts us and we ask God to forgive us of that sin. I think Paul said it best in Romans 9 when he said "For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do, i allow (understand) not, but that I hate, I do" (Romans 7:14,15). I'm no expert by any means, but I think Paul was saying, as long as we're in these mortal bodies, sin will always be a problem, because it's part of our nature. But that doesn't give us an excuse or a license to keep on sinning. I hope this answers your question. I tried to answer it the best I can. I just don't want you to be deceived, and I'm afraid you will if you keep following people like Andy Stanley, because what he teaches is opposed to what the bible says. Jesus said, in Mark 13:22, "For false Christs and false prophets (People like Andy Stanley, Joyce Meyer, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen) shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders (Like laying on of hands and "miraculous healings" and so-called "Speaking in tongues") to seduce (deceive), if were possible, even the elect (Chosen ones). I don't want you to be taken in by any of these false preachers. I hope you have a true, Bible believing. Gospel preaching church you can go to, preferably one with a preacher who truly preaches God's word and it not afraid to preach about hell and fire and brimstone. That's one of the problems today- too many preachers not preaching about hell.

Do you affirm that all of God's law is abiding in the new covenant? if not, what is sexual ethics and where do they come from?

It's people like Andy Stanley that made me a Calvinist and a fundamentalist, love your videos Dean by the way. He seems like he's trying to play both sides on the issue while trying to be affirming.

Wasn't Calvin that nice neighbor-hating Christian, who hated humor and dancing, and jailed people who disagreed with him, even caused someone's death, I think. He would make a good Republican, that's for sure, if he was alive today. Perhaps even Trump's VP.
