Btw if anyone wants to ride a heritage tube train, there is still one at the island of alderny (although it's hauled by a steam locomotive so it doesn't run under it's own power)

Showed no money around for investment, should’ve been scrapped much earlier.

The class 483's are an undisputed icon from the 1930's. The class 484's are already seen by many as an icon from the 1970's/80's. What with the Steam Railway, the Isle of Wight has been privileged to be the home of all these railway classics.
@jacksugden81902 жыл бұрын
Can’t remember them on the Isle of Wight, only Standard Stock on last visit, used to ride them in London thou.

It's pretty cool that most of the ones that were operational at the time of retirement are confirmed to be preserved! 483007 is staying on the Island, and is going to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, while 483006 and 483008 are going to the mainland to run on the Epping Ongar Railway. Since my family own a house on the Island in Lake (but haven't been able to visit for quite a while due to the pandemic), I've ridden on the 483s quite a lot between Lake and the terminus at Shanklin - It'll be interesting to see how the Class 484 D-Trains will handle the route once the upgrade works are complete.

I once used the 1938 tube stock in London, they were beautiful to ride with original interiors, in later years, such a shame to have seen them in such poor condition.

They should of been put into a museum or on a heritage railway or ff just send them up north we always end up with the older transport anyways Theres a museum in a place called Shildon they most likely would of taken them if someone asked them they took a pacer in before they wouldn't hesite taking 80+ year old trains

We're there not newer trains at the time that could have been sent over? The underground has loads of them at different depots on the network. Someone said 'I know, well send these 1930's trains to the island'. That person should have been sent to the Siberian salt mines to be worked to death.
@sskinblade3 жыл бұрын
Thank god they are gone they were a embarrassment to the island havenstreet railway was meant to be the heritage line not island line now with .money being spent on the island line and the stations being tidied up and some what new trains this will be good for the Island we will have trains running like north island has .
@Altondigitalimage3 жыл бұрын
Yes will be great for the Island line, the new units haven't yet carried out a mileage test yet so hope they are the improvement that is needed
