You can still experience tilting trains for yourself if you find yourself on a Pendolino, they tilt to an angle at fast speeds so they can take corners faster! ~ Daniel

Farewell Avanti West Coast Class 221 Voyagers. At least some have been cascaded to Crosscountry and some to Grand Central.

I do like the super voyager because avanti west coast class 221 trains have been replaced by the class 805 and 807 evero trains on the west coast mainline

the Avanti voyagers will be missed, the class 805s and the lack of tilt means a let down and not specifying the tilting mechanism on the bid for trains to replace the voyagers was very short sited

A TOC getting rid of trains that are only 20 years old will ALWAYS be a dumb move to me.

The thing is Avanti operated the 221 on some routes which were electrified throughout like London-Blackpool or London-Birmingham. Running a dmu would therefore be very inefficient, hence why they've replaced them with trains that can run these routes fully electric but also run diesel on unnelectrified lines like Chester and Holyhead. Also most of these trains ain't going away they're going to CrossCountry who need extra trains urgently. ~Hugh

I never liked the 220/221 voyagers as my first experience of them was having to stand in a vestibule with the toilet smelling like s**t.

Running on diesel under wires a pretty stupid idea, that's why they got the bi-mode trains.
