I think what pissed me off the most about Cimo's respin is that not only did he throw away key cards for multiple decks that are at the very least playable rightnow (at this low of a power level Karakuri and Six Sams would have been valid) and will have more support down the line, but he did it to chase a card that both of them would ban the first chance they got, if not just gentleman's out of.

Don't want to play devil's advocate but Gage's list is pretty based. Yeah it's "just Frog Monarch" but Fishborg into Formula gives him a neat draw and synchro engine. Lithium2300 played that same deck around the time and it's really cool if it gets to show off and turn Fishborg + Treeborn + Monarch into a Stardust Dragon or Thought Ruler Archfiend. But it didn't get to show off because Alex decided bad Chain Burn was the way to go.

I genuinely don't understand Cimo's logic in determining what's a good card or not at times. He threw away key cards for several decks that are totally viable and worth trying out at this point. If I was playing this series I would have been so happy to pull a Shi En and tried to make it work. Kizan is nice, but it's not essential to use Shi En.

Honestly it's the biggest issue with the series. Neither of them are sealed players, and seem incapable of moving out of a constructed mindset. The don't seem to even want to look at any lower rarity archetype that didn't storm the meta at the time, and just jam the same basic stuff time after time. It's why I just can't watch the actual series anymore without MBT. Especially after his own progression series, that actually showed how fun this format can be, if you actually curate it and get creative. Why is Pot of greed still legal?

​@@Crawver their rules for prog still baffle me. It'd make more sense for them to play with the rules of the times, draw for turn on turn 1, priority, etc. And adjust as they progress. They should also actually follow the concurrent banlists rather than play in a shitty version of traditional format. Imagine how much more creative they would have to be if all their dm staples were banned. Here's hoping to season 3 I guess.

people say that they have too many cards banned but I think they should ban a whole lot more cards. All the dm staples, hit the monarchs, chaos, etc. even if they are not the best decks atm so they are forced to actually consider new strategies

Okay, so both misplayed plenty here. Cimo missed lethal a couple of times. But most importantly, neither understood how LADD works. It loses the attack on activation, not on resolution. So Game 1 Gage's Ring should have won the game for Cimo

Cimo's so frustrating because even in History of Jank he always seems so miserable to be playing most decks and I don't understand why when he's elected to play in all these series that demand he play weird and off meta. Some of it I'm sure is memey jokes that I'm too much of a wet-blanket to catch but when he pulls pretty much every big nordic and doesn't even glance at them (when iirc MBT beat him with a nordic list in one of the histories) so that he can chase a one-off six-sam (which his deck would be viable without) or *MAXX C* of all things? It makes me question some stuff.

I’ve played dozens of progs over the years and I’ve come to the conclusion that it is at its best when you, a) pull packs out of order, b) pull less cards, i like 10 packs per set. the original rendition of prog gets incredibly stale super fast, as shown in both the first and second iteration of this series

In official tournament play you keep going until a player has two losses. Draws do nothing (if you have infinite time). It's also the reason a double game loss can end a match even if nobody's won two games, because someone has lost two games. Edit: No idea how it was back in 5Ds. I know they had to downgrade a penalty in the worlds finals once because they gave a double game loss for deck checks and they would've ended without a world champion, but I forgot when that was.

aside from them not using any cards from the current set in the episode (which is an ongoing problem with the series), Alex continues making questionable plays. Why does he flat out refuse to play cards sometimes. At least set the pair of jar of greed so you can chain them if they are targeted and get some draw power going for your burn deck. Misplays happen all the time, and they are usually honest mistakes, but refusing to play cards as often as he does is just infuriating to watch. I would be willing to bet that a majority of people watch MBT reactions to the series instead of the actual series because the only way we can bear to watch it is with funny commentary over it to call out the bullshit.

I assume you mean cl1 since an attack is not a chained effect and if so, no, the attack declaration window is one single chain in which every card that can be used then can be at any chain level, assuming something higher speed hasn't been activated. Same applies to the summon window. If you Trap Stun someone's Bottomless Trap Hole they can activate a second BTH in response because there is one single chain on summon. Nothing requires it being the first thing activated as long as you're doing it in the right window. The game state only changes after the effects resolve so in that moment the last thing to happen was the attack declaration. If someone wanted to they could chain Mirror Force and Cylinder or Book and Cylinder when you declared an attack with a monster and both of these examples are perfectly legal and would resolve exactly as you'd expect; negate/damage + destroy attack position monsters and negate/damage + flip down, respectively.

It gets boring time after time of seeing them gloss over every card that wasn't historically relevant and then put on their helmets and play some dog water chaos deck or monarch for the millionth times, example literally this episode. Cimo dumpstered a great pull where he could have made something work with Karakiri or nordic, but nah he didn't pull a singular maxx c and for the he has to bin it. Gage pulled okay for a six sam swarm build and just as well for nordics for synchro plays but just ignored that to play frog monarch...again. its boring when the two people playing in the series don't innovate at all because they tunnel on constructed lists and their dm staples which should all be banned.
