It bit more complex then that. When Zelmare explai difference between outlaw and criminal she mention that sooner or later criminals wants to legalize they money. Here we see evolution of that firts it was gangs like jews, then irish, italian and black. Italian mafia were organaized as family but that structure failed at some point so Ebal became a boss. Some time latter when Milligan get back to headquarters he been told that been a mob it's what bring the most money and that they are more focusing on other staff.

@JimmySteller10 ай бұрын
I highly doubt he would have remembered one random guy that he executed some twenty years prior. Remember that he was living a pretty decent life before he met Hanzee, I doubt he was having some kind of big reflective realisation, he was probably terrified and begging this random psychopath not to cut off his head.

Josto's speech rang hollow to Joe. Talking about a ladder but there is nowhere to go and saying what they make us do. This is a guy who ascended to the top because of his bloodline and now he is trying to relate to the little guy to save himself. It was an act and Joe saw through it

It wasn't an act, Josto was the only character in the season who finally "got it", albeit for him it was too little too late. He was correct about it being a "ladder" with "nowhere to go", which is what both Joe and Mike Milligan would come to learn in season two. It rang hollow to Joe here not because it was an act, but because he was too ignorant to understand what Josto was trying to explain to him. In a way it could also be seen as a sort of warning to Joe that he's gonna meet the same fate as Josto eventually; to be killed unceremoniously.
@williamtoledo68712 жыл бұрын
This season wasn't perfect, but man this scene is definitely one of the most satisfying as far as villain deaths go. Josto, who was an incompetent mafia boss and killed people for his short sightedness, has the most profound revelation about the Fargo characters' horrible situation - but it's too late. Oraetta, who spent a lifetime mastering death, accepts her fate after claiming Josto as her last victim - until she turns to see the Snowman, again reminded that she's an amateur in evil. Together they started the war, and together they died. In their own ways, they fought for power and recognition, only to end up buried in a field, just another anecdote in history.

@@frfras7 Because you can tell what the themes are that he's trying to hint at but there's just no articulacy or structure to his arguments. He goes from saying "hasn't there been enough killing?" Which is a laughably hypocritical statement, because it's been shown in abundance he has no problem killing when it's other people being killed. He then just tries to appeal to Joe's sense Italian solidarity, and then starts making broader comments about Italians. None of the things he says have any relevance to whether Joe should follow orders and kill him in that moment, or risk getting killed himself by sparing him. It's literally the opposite of a Tyrion Lannister speech, he has no grasp or aptitude for how to actually convince someone to do something. All the power and agency he's shown this season were inherited, and he ended up pissing it away.

Death tends not to be a laughing matter, but with brothers Josto and Gaetano there is definitely an exception. Their deaths are both just too hilariously anti-climactic not laugh out loud at. Guess they ended up having that in common, at least.
@alohacoach80023 жыл бұрын
Josto didn't deserve to die like that to me. But that nurse did. After the father was killed by the nurse, he took over, was pretty cool headed and more responsible than I thought throughout. Had to keep his crazy brother in check best he did. Tried to keep the family in power. Sure he lied to but it was for the right reason in his eyes. He killed but for deserving reasons, in the standards of a crime family atleast. And when he connected with his brother it was so perfect. this is all disgusting, Fadda is a surname that comes from a region that never had any kind of mafia and which population used to emigrate to Argentina and Brazil, there are not fadda and less that mafiosi called fadda in the USA.

This season was absolute trash. How sad because every season before it was so good.
