When Christians say "Christ is king" we know that they mean it to refer to him as divine. We should not make speaking this permissible for ourselves knowing the connotation these words holds. Our Prophet Muhammad (Saw) sought protection for us from committing shrik knowingly and unknowingly, We should not even be taking a chance by saying these words as muslims.

And not one was forcing boycotts. So even if he said that it’s irrelevant. People were encouraging boycotting and for obvious reasons.
