Glad to see you again. The prices on things like that 1/2 a U bolt have gone to the dark side of gouging people. The solution is always a little crafting and ingenuity, which you have in abundance. The manufactures are shameless when it comes to marking small items up.

Great video. I worked on Ralph Bronson's (Yes,Charles Bronson's cousin) farm from the age of 14 until almost 19. I remember Ralph having a small machine shop area with everything to repair just about anything that would break. He even had SUN automotive testers for the trucks and cars around the farm and friends' cars. I miss those days. I am a chemical engineer but I am starting a welding, fabrication, foundry and light machine sho to specialize in pre war race cars like the British post tail racers and the old Morgans and Hall Scotts type...I know I wil have to make every part because they don't make them anymore. I plan on starting a KZbin channel with the 1928 Morgan build. It is essentially an airplane without wings or a prop. Thanks for sharing .

I grew up with one of those. I have rebuilt it so many times I am pretty sure I could do it blindfolded. They were one of the original poster children for corporate profit by repair.

Probably lying in some random hay field or roadway ditch like all the others. Many years ago I was out cutting hay and found one in the grass. It wasn't from ours, oddly enough. This got me thinking, who lost it then given my family had been haying that land for longer than I can remember. 😋

I can't speak to that PN specifically but it may fall into the low quantity category. Some parts especially for older equipment that are only sold a few dozen a year and aren't used in production are produced in the New Holland prototype shop. In other words the pricing should be compared to what it would cost to have it made at a custom job shop not a mass production factory. I agree it is very expensive and not defending the price. Just providing context. Some companies choose to just obsolete old parts and stop supporting old equipment instead.

There are some things that cannot be fixed with baling wire and a fencing tool. I haven’t found any, but I’m told they’re out there.
