Nice hunt! I do have a calling recommendation. Wouldn’t have helped with you on this hunt because it seemed like you were the only caller. But when you got the birds working I like to hit them with a mallard drake call. Duck commander sells one, but you can use most whistles to manipulate the sound. I’ve noticed good hard commitments out of the mallards in California when I use it. I find it works best if you have a guy doing subtle quacks and feeds with someone else blowing a drake call. Just a little something different to try out. You can also just tell me to take my .02 cents and shove it. Won’t hurt my feelings 😂

If you are struggling finishing birds you might try and hunt in layouts on the grass banks of ponds. The late season birds can become a little blind shy, and an A-frame blind that stands around 3 feet higher than the surrounding grass can look a bit odd to the ducks.

Later in the season I find that if ducks shy away some then I change up my spread to more mating pairs and less decoys overall. Usually around half and I may leave a few extra hens out. Might make a difference for ya!
