Running a hog and row crop operation can present many challenges in a normal year, but 2023 brought a whole new level of stress and demands for Christopher and Kari Berg. As spring planting was about to begin on their Harper, IA farm, Christopher's father and farming partner suffered a stroke. Just three days later, two tornadoes pushed through the area, delivering blows to the Berg's main farmyard and Christopher's brother's home. With a much greater burden now on their shoulders, the couple knew it was time to ask for some help. After receiving a Farm Rescue brochure from a local business, Kari and Christopher contacted our organization and our field operations team moved swiftly to coordinate support during a crucial soybean planting season.
