Great video as always, very informative. Tyres work well for cleaning out the culverts.👍

A lot have said that but I think there might not be enough in the pipe and the tyre will just go over the top of the sediment.

Thank you for the informative video. Sad to hear of the loss of your cousin, only a couple of years older than me: gone too soon. Good to see the dykes in good repair. Could you let the culvert using a vacuum tanker?

Thanks Matthew. You’re right, no age at all. The culvert is very long so it’s going to take some doing.

You can also clean the pipes ot with a slightly over sized tyre on a chain and pull it through and it brings the rubbish with it as it is pulled through the pipe,
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of that but didn’t think the pipe had enough debris for it to work.

Always good to see dykes being maintained shame that so many drainage outlets get broken but that damage is repairable. Do you do regular jetting out of drains now dykes are cleaned out and easy access to drains ?
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
Braking the pipe ends off is the one thing I hare about trimming dykes. We’ve never jetted drained but I’m thinking we should.

Fantastic Video. Very informative. The farm I work at operate a full Regenerative Agriculture system. So a lot of drilling. We have a John Deere 750a and a weaving sabre tyne 6m. The weaving is a good all rounder drill. And it’s also useful to have a tyne and disc drill. If you would be interested in coming to the farm just let me know, would make a good video on re-Gen. We are in Cambridgeshire
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
I love the weaving and might buy one yet. You have the ideal combo with that and the JD. Thanks for the invite, 👌👍

Will agrii have a written up article about the drilling day? It would be very interesting to have a closer look in person at all the data We shovel our culverts as far as we can then use draining rods to loosen the dirt and flush through with water, whether you could pump water from the downhill side to the top side to help flush it through
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
I don’t think they will. We’re going to have to do something because it’s clearly stopping water flowing.

Very interesting regards the culvert drag a small tyre through on a rope but it's a long culvert so I don't know how you would get the rope through sorry to hear about your loss in the family no age ☹️
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
I had thought of the tyre but it’s mainly sediment, there’s no green stuff or roots so I thought because there is only a few inches at the bottom, the tyre would go over the top of the sediment. We might give it a go. 👍

Very informative video as always just wish I could have made it as I think your drill day videos and subsequent comments and videoed have highlighted alot to an outsider. Direct drilling is an ideal that is not always the best option in some conditions and soil types. Strip till drills look a tricky system to get right in these conditions. Tine drills appear the most forgiving option in these conditions but aren’t without the limitations. The obvious exception was the Simtech which appeared to really struggle for some reason. The disc drills are a more precise instrument to setup with note adjustment but were at a disadvantage in the conditions. What was your take with hindsight and six months thinking about it?
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
Was a good day Alistair. I’m thinking now we need a small disc machine and shallow cultivate in front of our free flow to get the best return. We can drill in the spring with it, but not in the autumn when there is a lot of straw lying on the surface. I’m also thinking of leaving Sabre tine as a backup

Surely you cant Glyphosate beans before harvest if they are going for human consumption in Egypt or dont the Egyptians worry about that. Pulling an old tyre through the culverts is another way of cleaning them out.
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard Жыл бұрын
That’s the idea of a harvest interval on the label, so residues have gone by the time the crop is harvested. A lot have said that about a tyre but I think there might not be enough in the pipe and the tyre will just go over the top of the sediment.
