Sadly many people forget what our past and present armed forces have done and are doing to ensure we live in a safe country, when we look globally we must be thankful for how peaceful our country is. Whilst I am housebound recovering after an ankle fracture and surgery, your updates are my walk in the fields, something I did regularly and especially on a Sunday afternoon. When I walk them it makes me think how many times my granddad and great granddad would have done the same when we had the farm here in Reedness. I remember this time last year how the fields were holding onto so much water after heavy rains, some fields I have never seen under so much water, shocking to see how that field in this update had flowing water! Hope that the mole drains make a difference to the land. We just need some bright sunny days along with a breeze to help. Brilliant update as always Andrew, thank you!

The Holmer beat harvester works more like a potato harvester by lifting the whole width unlike the Tims 3 row machine that lifts our beat using angled wheels that follow the row but tend to miss a few! But is ideal for the Devon roads lifting small fields towed by a tractor. Your cleared beat field could be ploughed with this week's drying weather ready for drilling, field would look nice ploughed! If that is correct, banks will probably be more nervous with the uncertainty, which they detest, and the potential reduction in the value of their security, so will be less willing to finance farmers to the level they have in the past?
