Great video Wardy, interesting and informative as usual. Thanks for promoting Jacobs KZbin channel, I've been a subscriber and following his vlogs for some time now. He deserves support and recognition because at 9 years old he's already a leading light in promoting farming to the younger generations. 👌👍.

Good update Andrew, nice to see how they set out the trial plots. It is surprising how hard the ground has gone, we could do with some rain but not like last autumn . Looking forward to Sunday update.

Great update. Someone said that a combine harvester is the best seed drill you will ever see because whatever falls out the back of it always grows without fail. No cultivatios - just sprinkle it on the surface and bingo, 100% germination! 😂

Ye gods Andrew, I didn't think that Cereals involved such meticulous precision planting for trials and everything else. Mind you, I haven't been to an event for nearly 40 yrs! So I should have opened my mind to the experience you gave us earlier this year, of your visit to this years event. I did think it was larger, but didn't realise, I suppose, because you can't show how big it was either. Having said that, thanks for the update, and see you next time.

The ground looks very compacted, could it be possible due to milder winters ? No frost to break down the soil, just athought. A good insight into preparing for the Cereal event. See you Sunday
@chrislee2221Ай бұрын
Crikes that land is as hard as a road, that is going to take a lot of work to get it into the condition your going to need. Consume a lot of diesel too I would think. Jobs worth at the PO sorting office no doubt.

What's the total area required for the event including carparks?. Can't believe your Post office, ours are much more obliging. Another great update, looking forward to Sundays yield update👍.

Cracking update again mate. These gps systems that are out now are pretty amazing aren’t they really for marking out plots. Wonder what olly will do for next years cereals event 😂that’s the trouble with soil isn’t it you have a wet winter/spring the you get a sunny spell and it bakes the ground rock hard. Nice to see everything coming together for the cereals event. 😊

I’m not a farmer Andrew but I do understand what you’re saying most of the time, would it not be a good idea to plough the ground once in a while to get back to a well dug state ,sorry if I sound clueless 👍
@WardysWaffleAndrewWardАй бұрын
The reason we went away from it was it was costing us huge £’s to establish crops after the plough. The solo does a similar job but leaves the surface in a much better condition ….. usually!!
@philipmetcalfe6289Ай бұрын
Csfb netting might not be needed this year ?! But wouldn't chance it. C25 site looks like it's coming together, interesting footage coming up as the site develops. Yes dry ground is difficult to deal with, it's eats time, fuel and metal. Wait for the rain, trouble is will it be enough !

Great Job, Do you regret your decision of planting cover crops this spring instead of spring barley?
@WardysWaffleAndrewWardАй бұрын
Not at all. Most late drilled spring crops on other farms didn’t yield too well, put the grain prices in the mix and it doesn’t look good. Some of them haven’t been harvested yet.

Don't know if you are aware of it but Royal mail will accept a bank or credit card as proof of ID !
@WardysWaffleAndrewWardАй бұрын
I didn’t have any actual cards with me, just photos and that was the problem!
@moelSiabod14334Ай бұрын
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard I've been in the same boat myself, I only found they accepted a bank card as ID when a young lady placed one on the counter in front of me in the queue, no photo needed. I have even picked up a parcel for my son using his card ! So long as the name and initial on the card match the package name they are happy.
@WardysWaffleAndrewWardАй бұрын
That wouldn’t have helped me because I only had a photo on my phone of all my cards and they needed to see the actual card.

Royal Mail parcels 😂😂. My 26 year old daughter couldn’t buy a can of spray paint at tool station as she didn’t have any original ID only photos of it on her phone, not the staffs fault just the crazy rule makers. Your land is so very hard, its difficult to imaging getting a crop established till we have a few inches of rain
@robdavis5711Ай бұрын
Smashing! So 400 exhibitors at Cereals, is that including those who don’t have plots (e.g machinery exhibitors), or does that mean 400 individual plots with different crop/treatment variations? Will half of those be planted in winter, half in spring? Do you have all exhibitors and businesses finalised now or is it continually evolving?
@WardysWaffleAndrewWardАй бұрын
400 in total Rob but some space still available for new ones. Will be more winter than spring.

great video as usual one question I have just read on farmers weekly instergram that defra is set to surrender£100million to help address the 22billion so called shortfall in public finances what if anything do you think it will do to farming will it hit all the grass and wild flowers being sown instead of crops hopefully I read the facts right I'm just someone who follows farming used to be an agriculture mechanic
@chrislee2221Ай бұрын
Imo a labour government has never been any good to agriculture. They are very short sighted in how they look at agriculture.

Not sure on that one. I know Tim Farron brought up in Questions that the conservatives held back £100m from farmers, he hoped Labour wouldn’t.
