Farm update 302 Part 1 of 2 of an in depth look at Spaldings, supplier of machinery & spare parts

Spaldings are one of the biggest manufacturers and suppliers of ag and ground care spare parts and machinery in the UK and Europe. In early August I was shown around their base in Lincoln. I was hugely impressed by everything I saw.
Part 1 is about the history of the 65 year old company, looking at the sales counter for local farmers, telesales, marketing department and the huge number of lines of racking in the warehouse, how products are picked and packed, importance of customer satisfaction and quality control. And how new products from other machinery manufacturers are replicated.

That was a brilliant update… no idea Spaldings was that big. To have that many people in marketing and to do product testing in house is really impressive. Shows they really know their industry and work with OEMs to improve and develop products that are as reliable as possible… hope you’ve both had a really relaxing break!

The good old flat lift!! my first day on the farm in 1994 when I was a student behind the wheel of a 395 gta fendt tool carrier, it had auto diff on the steering and very good visibility with the sound of that air cooled 6 cylinder! Magical!! I soon got the hang of knocking out roll pins on the points with out beating my self up😢. A well earned rest!! Thanks Andrew

Used to get our spaldings rep (Colin) come into our farm back in the 80’s in central Scotland, he knew his stuff and nothing was too much trouble, great company to deal with.

Andrew, this is the update I have been looking forward to for ages, I first used Spaldings in 1983, when I was an Ag Engineer. Then, they were the fastest parts delivery Co, so we used them all the time. Their range has obviously grown since then but I doubt if there isn't something in their catalogue, that someone who needs a very specific thing, they can provide it! I just wanted to see what and where the products were, and now, come from! Really looking forward to the next part, and the rest of your updates. Not sure when we began, but in a former life farming in Cumbria we dealt with Spaldings for parts through ACT (Agricultural Central Trading). Not sure if ACT still operate - we left Britain in 2000.

Very interesting video Wardy. I have to say its most interesting to see the level of health and safety requirements. In an open feild with nothing around for hundreds of metres, if not kilometres from the nearest hazard, let alone anything at height, I can be thrown off my plant/removed from site for not wearing my hard hat, yet I'm guessing in a fully compliant wearhouse where heavy items could potentially fall on you, from significant height, hazards that are meer inches away at all times, not a single person is wearing a hard hat. I bet its not the only difference if you even glanced around too. I'm wondering if the EA are taking advice from Health and Safety in how to be utterly useless money sponges or vice versa! Very interesting double standards.

Morning wardy. Cracking update again mate. Loving the pink shirt on the intro. Oh Nick in the office didn’t look to impressed did he 😂😂 what an impressive set up, I dealt with scaldings when I was farming here in west Cornwall so it’s really good to see behind the scenes and the next day service is very impressive sometimes it fails but that was a very rare thing very good company to deal with. A suggestion to help you get new subscribers is by using # hash tags in front of your Thumbnails and descriptions then when people do a search then your site will show up. Example # Farming, # tractors, # Barley, # wheat,etc...

Spalding good products good delivery . But they treat their field staff terrible ! Here in mid Wales we have had many many good field reps , nearly all have left due to the way they were treated by management !
