My dad bought a 450D in 1965. It had a cracked head at purchase. We ran it for several thousand hours, as it was our "big" tractor in our 600 acre operation. We never had a problem with it. After it was started in the morning it was not shut off until after 20 minutes of idle time at the end of the day. It was a great tractor.

The MD was my first love, but the 450 has a pretty special spot too. Would love to get it in front of my plows and my disc and see how the bunch of them do

Just wanna say thanks for the valuable information. I've learned alot from your vids. You like the same kinda toys as I do. Tractors and old big trucks👍⭕❌

Thanks, I wish I was around them more often to take my time and go more in depth, but I try not to waste what little time I get home completely on tractors. Its something though I will do in the future when I settle down

you reccomend one of these? diesels are expensive to fix and i dont know it its worth it. i love these farmalls though

I've found they are very good on fuel. But they're not really practical as you pointed out unless you get one that's refreshed, they're expensive. These things eat gas, and it's frustrating when starting and it runs out of fuel and you have to go hunt a gas can. Major parts arent available for them, but I've found if you're halfway handy you can make or adapt what you need to make them work. I keep saying I'm done buying these, but I'm up to 10, and if one comes along for the right price....maybe 1 more?

I've just picked up a 1957 Farmall 450 Diesel and I'm wondering if the switch in the intake manifold can be fixed and if so where is a good place to get the parts???
@reeseholler923 жыл бұрын
If you are handy and creative, it can be repaired. There are no new parts, so you either have to find another used manifold that is good, attempt to fix it, or just turn off the key once the tractor is on diesel

@@reeseholler92 that's what I was figuring on being the case!!!

Very interesting! Out of curiosity, on your 400 at the end of the video, do you know what the little cast piece is on the frame rail by the injection pump? I’ve seen those before and never new what they were.

While I don't know exactly I would have to imagine they were used as an alignment pin to help getting something like a front mounted cultivator or a corn picker lined up on the tractor. Don't know for sure but that's what I would guess. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5nJiH6jo8qhb7c

If you're talking about the little button on the side, it was for cultivator alignment. You would put the cultivators on and that would go in a hole to align them correctly to the frame. You'll see them on deeres as well, only there's are round.

That makes sense! I was looking at an MTA at an auction and could not figure out what they were for.

Do you have any experience with lp farmall tractors?
@reeseholler923 жыл бұрын
I do not, sorry. Someday I'd like to delve into one, but for now, just gas and diesel. Virtually they are the same minus the head and intake setups though
