When I was a kid, I ran farmalls alot. I had a lot of time on a Super H and a Super M. These are tough old tractors and there are many still in service today. I have a 1942 H that I use here on the vintage homestead

We had 2 farmall h's back in the 60's. First thing I ever drove. I couldn't reach the pedals. Dad got it going for me. We were baling hay with a baler with it's own engine. Dad would jump on the tractor when I needed to stop. I miss those days. Great video. Thanks for the memories.

Great video! It is no telling how many hours I have driven the H with the tricycle front wheels. I cut hay, racked plowed used the front loader cleaning out the barn and loading spreader. They were and are great tractors.

I used to put hay out with the 1964 version of that tractor. I miss it. The awesome thing about the newer version was having the 3 point hitch with the hay spike on it. Those old loaders are very underrated. I really like the trip bucket setup. With the rear blade and the trip bucket I could move one ton of snow.

👍👍👍 Good old tractors, spent many hours on seat of H, Super H, M & Super MTA. Exactly as you said, the H & M's were simple & easy to fix. Clean H2O out the sediment bowl, new plugs, points, dist. cap every 2-3 years and good to go! Plowed a lot of snow with an H with canvas engine shroud & a windshield back before they had tractor cabs. Thanks for the memories Harvey! 🍺🥨🍺

I live in Gaines Michigan it's a population of 223 and it's all farm everybody has old tractors and just about everyone has a tractor no newer than mid 80s I have a massey 135 1972 and a ford 3550 backhoe it's a 1976 I'll never own a new tractor there to hard to just rig up if something breaks on the fly and there to expensive my uncle inherited our 120 acre farm I grew up on a h and a super m and a farmal f20 and a john deere b my dad and uncle said also if you can crank the f20 you can drive it but I thought the john deere b was the hardest to start. But great video it reminded me of our family farm.

Hi Harvey and Cullen!!😀😀 The old H with a Wagner loader. That brings back fond memories from when I was a kid. LOL!! To bad it's not the super H then you would have live hydraulics on it so you wouldn't have to put it in neutral to run the loader. I've got one just like it with a narrow front sitting in my barn that hasn't been started in almost twenty years. But like you said. Pliers wire and bent screw driver will probably get it going. LOL!! Take care guys!!😀😀👍👍❤

That’s a good running old Farmall. Neat to see one with a wide front end. Those machines from that era were built to last. really any of the IH tractors up until the mid 1970s are pretty easy to work on we ran them on my uncles place when I was a kid. With the exception of valve jobs, it didn’t take many tools to tear one of those motors down and rebuild, especially the diesels. All that being said the modern tractors, especially hydrostatics are much more user friendly and no doubt safer. Same could be said of a lot of things, like chainsaws and portable sawmills

My Father purchased a Leader D tractor in 1948,We were able to harvest 128 acres the first yr. with the old wheat binder,I was only six yr old , I could only hold it straight in line Dad would take the machinery around each corner of the fields from the binder to the tractor and turn it to the next rows and away we would go only ran over one fence not bad for a six yr old.

I figured you would have a beer can sitting on top of your muffler and not a flapper valve. As soon as I cranked the tractor my horses would have been standing at the gate waiting for breakfast. Then you have to dodge horses as you drive. I would have gotten some of that old hay and thrown it in the ruts to increase the tractors traction or found another way into the lot.
@John-rx3xx3 жыл бұрын
boy thats a good old tractor
@johnclarke66473 жыл бұрын
Your best chance to get up a muddy hill is your first time. You cannot do a lot of stuff in a farm lot because animals are dumb and if there is anything in it that can hurt them, they will find it. The first time I cranked a tractor it was one with a manual start and that damn handle knocked me about ten feet when it kicked back. I sat on a Sears catalog the first year I worked at my grandfathers farm. I was about ten, mid 50’s. It was a Ford Jubilee. My grandfather farmed 2,500 acres with a Jubilee, a 560, a 640 and a high row cropper B model Johnny, plus a brace of mules.

You know if you throw a couple pails of wood ashs in those tire trenches it wouldn't even spin a tire,several times I watched my grampa throw fresh ashes out the wood burner on are driveway at the farm its a steep hill and the logging trucks couldn't get up in the winter its amazing how good dry ashs work for traction works way better than sand or kitty litter who would've thought,try it someday
@randygrider9758 Жыл бұрын
Hilarious ! Raise the loader up. It throws weight on the back tires for more traction. If you are going to be running up in that mud put some weights on back of tractor. Just a couple hundred pounds does a whole lot.

My father and I restore these old tractors. Ive got an H, M, Super M, 400. My dad has probably 15 of them. If only Va was a little closer to NY. I would run you up 4 more rear wheel weights. Triple weights per side would offset that big hay bale. Keep up the good videos.
