She's looking good! It'll go quickly, now! Well, everything but the radiator studs that is! (They are always a pain on the H and M series). One thing to note - the clutch can be removed from the belly without splitting on the H and M, but NOT on the Super M with the 12" Rockford clutch (noted be the suffix "J" on the serial tag). The Rockford clutch must be removed by splitting the tractor.
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch4 жыл бұрын
@@squatch253 Yessir - that is about the procedure... And I have done it AT LEAST 3 times between the H and M. Not much room to work in either one, but I thought the M was a little better just because there is a little more room to work inside the clutch housing. Can't wait to see the Super M up and running.

Are you sure that the four tapered bolt interface with the eight rubber "bumpers" is for vibration dampening? Is it possible that it is used to take out slight misalignment between the engine (crank) and transmission (input shaft)? It would be difficult to control all the castings involved for proper alignment, and again difficult to machine those differences out given the distances involved. At the risk of youtube quarterbacking, not having seen that joint in person, it does not seem like it would reduce the radial or revolving power pulses produced by the engine. As a side note some relatively high tech equipment produced in the same era had difficulty maintaining alignments over similar distances when machining castings over similar distances which led to various problems as tooling wore.

@goodfortune63994 жыл бұрын
Thats what i was gonna say. Not sure if you could pull that input shaft straight back enough to get it out of the clutch
@landerson10124 жыл бұрын
I think it's possible via means of uncoupling the yoke to the transmission shaft where the rubber grommets are. Then the shaft would be able to drop down and pulled out. That's what i see anyway....50/50 chance I'm right/wrong.
@PeopleAlreadyDidThis4 жыл бұрын
From the I&T manual (shortened): Remove all the release bearing hardware, disassemble the u-joint, unbolt the pressure plate, then bring the shaft etc. out the access hole. Early 11-inch M clutch will also come out the hole. Late 12-inch Super M clutch disc will come out along with shaft and release bearing, but you have to split the tractor to get the 12-inch pressure plate out.

Looking great. A lot of work and patience. So, you mention paint touch up on some things, after it’s together. At the factory, the chassis and engine would have all been assembled before painting. Then the sheet metal parts which were painted separately would have been installed. Then the wheels and tires would be installed before rolling off the line.

I remember the first time I split a JD industrial with loader and b-hoe it was over 30years old at the time it took most of a week to get it broke down because of Alkali corrosion and broken seized Fasteners that machine had every problem possible and getting the equipment together necessary to support those parts as they were removed. That tractor belonged to a government agency and everytime new or repainted equipment was seen by taxpayers the doard would get deluged with complaints about wasting money, so no paint! Or patch work paint so it looks at least as old as it was.
