I think you did a great job of explaining the adjustments of the carburetor. I set up the carburetor and the timing by ear. My H has a combination of an M and a 756 carburetor, top half M,bottom half 756. Great video, everything was explained in layman's terms.
@FarmallFanatic2 жыл бұрын
You ever had that hooked up to a dyno?
@hturbo10072 жыл бұрын
@@FarmallFanatic yes, a dyno is the best way to set the timing and carburetor when you have a turbo. You really need to listen for pinging under a load. By the way, it Dynoed at 53 horse at 540 p.t.o. . It'll dyno around 60 horse if you pull it down some. If you pull it down too much and start losing boost, it'll turn back into an H really fast. Not bad for 152 Cubic inches . I could get some more out of it if I add a water injector, but it's not worth messing around with it for what I mostly use it for.
@hturbo10072 жыл бұрын
@@FarmallFanatic I forgot the most important thing. You really need a dyno to set the boost. Without knowing what the boost is you can destroy the engine, because the turbo can come from the factory at any setting, it could be two pounds or it could be 30 pounds. Maybe this spring I could do a video on the turbo explaining what I did and why.

A blonde pushes her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly. She says, 'What's the story?' He replies, 'Just crap in the carburetor' She asks, 'How often do I have to do that?'

Exact video I searched your channel for earlier today. Been having problems with my 39 H. Started with the choke getting pulled when I pushed the battery back in after I changed it out. Died shortly after running it, and started burping oil out of the air cleaner. Thought I might of had a stuck valve, so I threw some PB blaster in there. Finally got it started again, but it idles terribly and dies right when I give it a little throttle. Thinking I need to adjust those pins to get it running right again. That or I have the poor thing so out of time and the sparks aren’t firing at the right time. Thanks for giving me a place to start!

@@FarmallFanatic Thanks again for the awesome video! I was able to get my H running the best he’s ever run. I think he still needs a timing, plugs 1 & 3 were covered in soot, but 2 & 4 where basically fine. Still more work to be done. But I was finally able to disc my field!

One thing many dont think about is the air filter. They clean that bottom cup and fill with fresh oil. However for sixty or 70 years that air cleaner has been catching dirt dust and debris up on the screens . You can take that apart and clean the screens or filter medium with solvent. It possible to have a engine that idles and runs perfect a low RPM. but when demand increases the plugged air cleaner makes the engine run rich. My father bought a 930 case diesel real cheep because it was drinking oil. I serviced the oil bath air cleaner that was severly plugged and it quit burning oil. I knew it wasnt worn out because it did not have any blow by out of the crankcase vent.

I like the zenith carb on my "A", only one adjustment screw. I run ethanol gas in my "A" mainly because I don't think many gas stations sell it. If the tractor is gonna sit a while, I shut the fuel off and let the gas run out and wait till the tractor shuts off.

I'll tell you how to fix that Ting Ting Ting of that cap there fanatic and do it right. If those old farmall's have the valves adjusted correctly that just about two or three teeth on a throttle over an idle they'll run in that Capital just float I had an old neighbor who was a dear friend we lost him several years ago here but he can adjust one of those he taught me how he can just one of those so that rain cap would just stay open steadily and just kind of float. So if you have a good head with a good set of valves good spark additional carb adjustment and have the valves adjusted correctly they won't clatter like that. We figure out a way to get some contact information I'll tell you how to do it.

@guydaubenspeck92062 жыл бұрын
@@FarmallFanatic well that's a good plan to set those valves up. It is amazing how much better they run when they're properly and completely tuned but it's also amazing how forgiving those old engines are. I have my old BN back in the shop right now when we rebuild it last summer I didn't give too much thought to changing out the fan drive hub and I wish I had it froze up on us didn't hurt the tract or anything but when I found out the small cost it was going to be to repair it I sure kick myself. I was up at the dealer at new bath yesterday picked up a few things and I got a new fan blade for it already had the hub here established it would fit so we got it paid for and squared away hopefully here in the next day or two I'll get that put on the tractor, we are waiting for the radiator to return from the radiator shop and then perhaps we'll be able to hear it run again. But that's his prime example there 8 years old rebuild in the old head and the old block and she went right back to work. Thank you say they don't have to still build them because they built them right the first time
