The time, effort, and care you put into gifts for your wife is admirable. Great job all around and as always, great editing

I've been making copper roses from sheet and offcuts for the last couple of years, your video was one of the main influences to try making them. I find yours spectacular my friend, they have so much character and a high degree of quality, fantastic job. I just come here every so often to see how much you're still kicking my ass at making copper roses.

You make it look easy. How many of us have made a crappy looking rose after watching this video and left it a drawer in the garage instead of giving it to our loved one? Guilty.😁

Cant believed I've been missing this video, ive been doing this by welding nuts and bolts then wrapping in wire strands for pedals and color - this is such a great idea, love the final product. Ill probably make a bouquet with steel nuts and bolt flowers and then a copper rose in the center...but im single again now so thats a project for another day - lol really enjoy your content, thanks for sharing, I greatly appreciate your ingenuity for challenges!

One thing of note to any noobie artists put there. Soft metals like copper and brass have a tendancy to grab at things like drill bits, saw blades, and wire wheels. Creating potential for injuries to occur. Personally I use vise grips or vices whenever possible to lessen the impact of such events when they occur. Using your hands to hold a sheet while you go at it with a drill press is asking for trouble eventually. It doesn't take much for the sheet to jerk out of your hand and helicopter up the drill bit and hack away at your digits until you get your hand out of the way. If you're lucky it only stings from the impacts if you're unlucky you will be trying to stem the blood flow with shop rags or trying to one handed open up your first aid kit while in pain. I've had to do both more than once thinking I'll just be more careful this time it's only one piece. Famous last words

I made one with a piece of 8mm pipe and used a pipe cutter to score a not so deep line. If you then hammer the end unto that it mushrooms out stopping at the scored line, you can then slip the petals and peen the inside of the "rose" where the pipe is with a conical punch. So there's no need for solder, plus pipe's cheaper than rod if you don't already have it. The same thing can be done with rod, but you'd need to drill it before hand.

a while back i acquired some copper wire that size for stems and didn't think anything of it until i ran out and now i've been looking for months trying to find more and can't find it, even the recyclers i've talked to say they never get any solid copper wire that big, do you know what gauge that copper wire is and what it is typically used for???

Sweet vid. I've been making similar flowers for a while, but I thread the stem and add a small nut to sandwich the petals. I like your solution a lot better though- i might have to borrow that.
@FarmCraft1018 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I considered using a nut as you say, but wanted a more natural look so I gave this a try. It worked well, petals are nice and tight. Thanks for watching.

I absolutely love your videos. I have probly watched over half, but this is my first time commenting. How did you start learning all the different things you do? The sawmilling, building, everything else? I would like to learn some of these skills. My family just bought our own little 5 acre chunk of land. I have tons of plans for some similar projects to several of yours.
