I'd had the worst morning, then the prospect of the ducklings first swim on the pond temporarily soothed me... UNTIL Diablo tried mating with Louise whilst nearly drowning her, the geese tried to peck the ducklings eyes out, Jake found a snake and then Lester ripped the crotch out of his favourite camo shorts!! Jami I believe that little duck that was on his back is the same one I keep seeing in the group that has a problem with walking. If you get the chance to take a look at the babies you probably should soon. He tends to like fall to the left when he does stumble. So maybe he's got a bum leg or something. I'll be interested to see what you find out.

Yes I think so too. There is a name for that condition (I can't recall it atm) and farmers can tie their little legs apart with a popsicle stick. Chicklets get it too. The little ducks or chicks that have that condition have a much lower survival rate. I don't know what causes it. One homesteader, all the hatchlings of baby turkeys had that condition. They were just falling all over each other. He moved them to a small, heated incubator and did the leg tying thing. These little turkeys were earmarked for his large extended family for thanksgiving. (Organic - Free Range). He managed to save most of them but it was labor intensive. In a few days their legs began to function normally.

Why would you laugh when Thelma is getting attacked by Diablo, he's to aggressive towards her and those new babies. He should not be allowed near Thelma or those babies. Nothing to laugh about. Ducklings have a less than 50% survival rate and I always wondered why. Now I know. Holy Sheesh. They are too tiny to survive that pond atm. Jeez. Amazing video from beginning to end. Good day Jami .Here in South Africa on the farm we were taught that when you kill a snake you burn it right on the spot. Because they give a smell of too get help when they in trouble and that smell atrack other snakes or that snake partner to come.. It almost like a 911 to it friends for help. The drama never ended!!! The wee ducklings in the water for the first swim, one of the babies was away from the flock, Louise getting bred by Diablo, Top Geese and Flight School walking over the ducklings, a poisonous snake and the highlight of the shit show, Lester blew out the crouch if his favorite shorts. Thank goodness you captured it Jami, this is a great video. I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. The hero of the day is Jake for saving the baby duckling and catching the snake.

Wow, is the best word to cover all the emotions this video provoked. There is the adoring ‘wow’ for seeing Louise take all her babies to the pond, the enraged ‘wow’ how dare they attack the babies, the horrified ‘wow’ mixed with the relief ‘wow’ when all duclings were back with mama and the admiring wow for those catching and killing the snake, and of course a laughing wow too. So many emotions provoked by one short video. Yeah, I think WOW will have to do as a response. This was the most precious, heart warming, exciting, scary, dramatic, funny , awful, emotional, (plus many other adjectives) video I’ve seen. Like a great movie!! It brought out so many emotions in me. I agree, Louise and babies back to the nursery!!! Not only could that snake have snatched some, turtles will definitely grab more than one of those tiny ducklings. Lester’s scream was was perfect!! Oh, and that smell is the musk snakes release when they feel threatened. It’s the worst. I caught a six foot rat snake (harmless) in my chicken coop with the snake catcher my husband made me, and it got out while we were figuring out where to take it. It started to go behind the refrigerator in our carport and out of instinct (or insanity) I grabbed it’s tail and pulled it out and it “musked” me. It is the most disgusting smell that you can’t hardly get off your skin. We let it go a few acres away, btw. Best video ever Jami. This one had it all!!!! 🏆🏆🏆

This needs to be the video of the year!!! It had everything. Tension, emotions, drama, the poor little ducklings saw how ugly adults can be sometimes but saw their Mama face them all just to protect them. There was the photo bomber professional antics of Carl, the frantic screams of all of y’all over the snake (but Lester’s was the best), Jake’s award winning laugh and his passion to save the day! It was the best Jami, just like all of you! Merry Christmas!! 🎁🎄 ♥️

I am so afraid for those babies because of the eagle. But I have to say this is so beautiful, surprisingly they can swim. Pablo is in the way of the video, so is Carl, what a wonderful day! I could watch these babies all day long! Many blessings and much love to all of you ;)
