yes right probably right in that a a mower with out a conditioner may have been better for cutting the sunflowers. As for the red clover this is my 2nd year with it and have noticed a big improvement. Spotted video last winter of a man in Limerick who always lets it go to seed before the 2nd cut and has been using the same field for a number of years as this allows the clover to re-generate. It has really allowed the new clover to fill in the gaps

When going into the clover Phil, stop on the road beside the gate and when the coast is clear maneuver into the field. No surprises for anyone.
@robertgraham6053Ай бұрын
Phil in the red clover crop they say your meant to cut very hight like 4 inch to maintain a good crown base and don't rake as this upsets the steemy base 🤷🏽♂️

Phil, someone had to make the first pit of silage. The sunflowers will be an excellent education. Either for or against. At least now you know what to expect. Fair play

The mowing bar and the 35 would have been a rite job for the sun flowers
@JonDingleАй бұрын
A maize header on the Jaguar would be better suited because it's a tall stalky crop like maize. Looks like you obliterated the crop through the mower to me. An interesting way of doing it but I doubt you will get a good yield but I could be wrong?

Nice one Phil That will be interesting, how many bales from sunflowers and how they turn out. Beans must be ready for harvesting

It was probably in Kansas where sunflower silage gets used. Lots of sunflowers as well as beef cattle feedlots there.
@aaronswanson6719Ай бұрын
I know the feeling running across the road like you did to get into the red clover. I live on a busy highway and feel like I risk my life multiple times a day. Stay safe.
@tristangibbs2351Ай бұрын
To be fair wouldnt go too bad if you could plant it or harvest it along with the maize and mix the sunflowers in with that

Id second the finger bar mower suggestion Bed of the mower was flattening the stalk and the angle of the blade made bits of it all
@jasondavies4887Ай бұрын
I wonder if uou could cut it with a SP harvester with a maize header.
@richardmccarthy3769Ай бұрын
Common on the t3 6400 series for those panel brackets to break. Plastic weld only job. Mowed and baled maize like that before as it had to be cleared for a housing development. Cattle loved it

What's the point of sunflowers, an acre wasted on 2 bales I think?
@FARMERPHIL3690Ай бұрын
Sunflower patch was its main purpose. Making bales is just secondary
