Hi again Phil, make a new-year resolution to de-horn every calf next year. Well worth doing and safer for man and beast. Another great video. I love looking at all the stock thriving in their winter bedrooms. And Oh, I had another one of your sirloin steaks this evening and it was excellent 👌.

Great video Phil , that’s very similar to what goes on in our yard except we would be feeding mostly dairy cows , we used to have a Keenan 100 until it was completely worn out then we bought a refurbed mech fiber 360 cw bale handler it has saved us an awful lot of time because it holds twice as much , we are feeding brewers grain and beet to the milking cows along with first cut silage

Jaysus Phil I'm sorry to hear about poor Dolly, my uncle (lord have mercy on him) always said pure bred stock can be very hard to keep alive. That's a shame, but as you said where there livestock there's deadstock. A good rare Irish breed to try is the Bó Riabhach. I believe there's a farmer in longford trying to re-establish them. They are very rare and he's going around the country buying them up or letting his bulls out to cows. Could be good to look into. If I'm right they are a dualpurpose animal. Looking forward to seeing you get working on the forks, it's a handy wee machine for around the yard. 👍🏼

Regardless of weights you can see that they are thriving , I always find that the first few weeks of feeding are always disappointing , then they start to leap out of it , think it's as my father used to say " you have to get the lining in them first" ie. You have to build the internal fat before thy put on external condition.
