It's farming technology especially used for places with limited land suitable for agriculture. As far as I know, all the required nutrients added into the water according to the growth phase. And since its in closed environment, they probably use little pesticide (maybe even without it added). Considering the growth of vegan/vegetarian folks, this method probably will be used more in the future. You can't feed everyone needing vegetable just by farming in the land.

@@quendi9381 carrot and potatoes probably can't, but some leafy vegetables certainly can (kale, spinach/water spinach, celery). I don't know if aeroponic can solve it. Developing nations also have land problems and (more importantly) population problems. Hydroponic will sustain us in limited capacity, but it's better than shortage and inflation of it. Though when you said loss, it's mostly the setting (contraptions?) used that drive the hydroponic vegetables to be expensive. So yeah, only certain kind of people (moderately rich) who eat those.

In developing countries, this type of planting will cause losses. Blood spray!! This model is only for growing lettuce. There are many plants on earth that cannot be grown in this way...

@@quendi9381 I agree with your thoughts. In Korea, several big firms have been studying hydroponic cultivation for decades. Let's take strawberries as an example. In the last 20 years, the demand and supply of hydroponic cultivation strawberries have increased. On the contrary, strawberries grown in the soil decreased. The agricultural product cultivation technology develops too steep, so young Koreans now think of strawberries, harvesting strawberries in winter, rather than May to June. It's very abnormal, but already a decade ago, farms that grow the summer strawberries on the ground in the existing way were bankrupt. Facility cultivation strawberry becomes money, and consumers prefer to grow facility cultivation such as hydroponic cultivation.

@@quendi9381 Now, hydroponic cultivation lettuce is popular in Korean agricultural industry. The hydroponic cultivated agricultural products, which are abnormally moist, and highly fructose, highly carbohydrate, on the contray lowly phytochemical, are now distributed and consumed. However, hydroponic cultivated agricultural products were less storage than agricultural products grown on the ground. Pesticides and fertilizers are used less, or organic agricultural products, but they are quickly corrupt. I think it's an agricultural product that can't be sure if it is helpful for me and my family, and sometimes I feel like a garbage that shouldn't be eaten thing.
