Legit was trying to figure out farms LAST NIGHT and came to your channel to see if you had a video about them to give me a bit of insight as it was clear I was doing something wrong. Was bummed to see you didn’t have one like the belts/pipes which gave me a few bits of good knowledge. Guess I was just a day to early it seems! Ty for this video. Ex last night i realized despite setting up fertilizer and 100% didn't realize despite making it, running the piping etc that I didnt move that green bar so it wasnt using the fertilizer I made.sigh haha.

2 crops in 2 farms > 3 crops + Green Manure in 1 farm> 4 crops in 1 farm. My numbers are based on the game data of no crop or "fallow" v. Green Manure. Also. Green Manure can hold up your planting cycle up to four months in a water shortage, so it's important to hook up the water for those irrigated farms, even if it's just rain.
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
Generally more farms and less rotations is a good rule of thumb, except green manure has a bonus fertility in the greenhouse 1 and 2, so that changes the numbers sometimes.

Looking forward to that food video! I spent more time than I care to admit to trying to calculate how many farms and chicken coops and markets I needed and still ended up with more eggs than I could ever eat and no sausages to eat with them...
@twinssword2 жыл бұрын
The problem with sausages is that atm it does not scale well since its made with byproducts (you always have more eggs and chickens etc). This recently was discussed in the coi discord (might need some balancing etc). Atm you just burn access stuff off haha
@JayRay49242 жыл бұрын
yeah it seems more like an outlet for waste products than a sustainable food source. At least I have 300+ months of eggs and tofu to keep the protein category satisfied lol

I absolutely love this game. I wish... they would introduce fishing, creating a fishing fleet for food. Larger the population, larger the fleet :)
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
I agree, I think fishing has been so highly requested we might see it in a content update in the future!
@justinhoff45174 ай бұрын
@JDPlays that would be really cool, have it where if you overfish for too long you can cripple the fish population until it recovers. Maybe have water and trash pollution impact fishing in the areas they are dumped.

When I think about it, the game almost reminds me of the Anno series. They both share some basic elements.

Good vid. With relation to farms what I would really like to see though is a guide on crop rotation and which crops should be assigned to a particular farm. At the moment I have 8 farms with a rotation of Potatoes , green manure, veg, empty which consistently leaves me with about 50 months food supply for my 1700+ pops. This also satisfies two categories (carbs and vitamins) and gives a me the max unity bonus for both. when the food supply drops below 50 months I simply drop in yet another farm with the same rotation cycle. All off that is without using any fertiliser. What I would like to do though is grab those protein and treats unity bonuses, but I have yet to figure out how to achieve that in a consistent way. I have dabbled with the chicken farms and bread but I cannot get consistent results from either. A guide on farm rotation that will satisfy all 4 food category bonuses for unity that is scalable (like my potato and veg farms) would be very much appreciated. Maybe another viewer has figured it out and would like to share? Have subscribed but I never give likes on youtube videos or any other tyype of social media. I dont like the way that KZbin, google, etc uses that info for their own nefarious uses. Otherwise you would have got a like for all your vids so far in this series.

@@JDPlays looking forward to it ! But it is a chicken and egg situation. you need to know how much food and of which type you need before you start slapping down farms everywhere, often building the wrong type or needlessly wasting resources and precious space. Chicken farms are a great example of that, You build a couple, put in all the infrastructure (pipe belts etc) and then find out you cant hit the unity target or keep running out of animal feed. Dont ask me how I know that, have almost given up on trying to make them work in a way where you get the unity bonus without ending up with a bottleneck or to much of a particular resource that's hard to get rid of.
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
Arrr Chicken farms I have a totally different answer, Why try to max them out? I use them as a dump for surplus food... I built 12, I could support all 12 to start with, but as the people ate more, the chickens eat less. Now I support 3, and have 6 with semi starving chickens, they get a bit of food every now and then, but the population hasnt died yet and I still get free eggs out of the mix!

Question. Does food go bad? Can you store up many years worth?
@Bandit20332 жыл бұрын
No food decay currently, so if you have the room for the storage, yes you can store as much as you want forever
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
Nope doesn't go bad in storage, doesnt go bad on the belts, I have farms that are 6 long, the belts ACTUALLY take 4 months to move from the rear farm to storage, the potatoes are quite happy baking in the sun that whole time!

How do I fix it so that my Farms use Fertilizer 2 as primary Fertilizer, and organic fertilizer as secondary? I know how to do it with belts, but when it is pipes it's a bit different.

Yeah, and it's also early access, so they need to finish the gameplay before explaining it all.
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
I agree, but early access games are like that. No explanation half the end game features are missing, and your go from there. Some EA games are highly polished out of the gate (Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere, CoI) and you expect more. But many are not and you just accept it needs work, and they get there in the end.

@@JDPlays A follow up to this. Can you tell exactly how far out or deep we can dump? I know it depends on the maps but is there a depth limit?
@Bandit20332 жыл бұрын
Longer answer is you can set how far out till the 'edge of the map' and how deep the ocean is in the initial map settings. "Extra ocean chunks" and "ocean floor decline" (unless your asking if there's a bottom to the map aka how deep you can dig into the terrain, then most likely, but ive yet to see anyone actually hit it) You can see how far and how deep the ocean is when you are using the dumping/mining tools, you can't designate past the map edge, and any designations you do set will draw lines down (or up if in mountains) to where the current terrain height is, so you can see how deep it is
@JDPlays2 жыл бұрын
Johnny has most of your answer, the only thing I can add is you can dig past -99 from the surface of +2
