Many thanks for the information, Fred. BTW, Dr. Hamiisi Semanda from Uganda is an open book for goat rearing. It will be in our best interest and advantage to follow his KZbin episodes. He is a Vet, and has been in this goat farming business for years with lots of experience under his belt. Literary, he is the "Godfather" for goat rearing on KZbin. Thank you.

Hello Fred I have cattle, sheep and recently goats. In trying to establish the goats farm, I observed that the lack of commercial goat's farm in the country with is a challenge. This is for the reason that we are forced to buy breeding stock from the market. In this case you are unable to tell the genetics of the goats and their health status. Some give birth but unable to produce enough milk for the kids. Some kept having reoccurring running stomach and infact, I have lost some to this health issues. This is the main reason why I love what you are doing because very soon, through your endeavors, we will be able to get trusted source of high quality breeding stock. As we are all learning, I remember calling your attention to the gestation period of all breeds of goats in one of your videos. The gestation period according to literature and my personal experience since childhood is five months and this means that they can only be bred two times a year. It is only the maturity period of goats that differ base on breeds type. The exotic type mature within six months to eight months and our local once mature within a year and some times a year and some months depending on their growth rate. How far with the shop?

You are absolutely correct Fred, Goats were my best as a little boy, feeding my chickens , rabbits, guinea fouls & catfish, came at some cost I had to depend on proceeds from my goats, which I fed for free , cutting grass from bushes around my village. ..& by the way , I also love the smell & taste of goat as well. Thanks for sharing

A goat gestation period is roughly 5 months as there are 12 months in a year it is therefore impossible to have three breeding seasons in a year for goats. Pls can u make that correction to ur viewers. In case if there's a breed of goat that can be bred 3 times in a year pls share with us. As we are all here to learn from our mistakes. 👍🤔
@collinsc4692 жыл бұрын

Exactly bro goats are to give birth twice a year. Their gestation period is 5 months no matter how proper feeding you feed it. Its impossible to have three breeding seasons. Mr Fred please kindly make the viewer's clear about that, since we all educating ourselves here. Thank You 👍🙏🙏🙌

I think the best way to optimize your breeding is to select your female stock based on prolificacy. So that in each breeding season you can have multiple births per dam
