as a New Zealander we would clean up by drenching the goats with worms then we would wait the rest time for the product we used then those goats with worms would be harvested and their offspring would be harvested that is how the Kiko got the worm tolerance we breed it out by culling those that worms was a weakness - Nelson New Zealand is a lush growing region with a good rainfall
@BoisDArcKikos4 жыл бұрын
Christa Inglis I agree those that have continued worm problems need to go Thanks for watching

@@BoisDArcKikos yes but harvested for meat not back into the breeding pool otherwise if you all do that the USA is going to have problems with their Kiko in 10 years from now and really need to start again - send it to the slaughter house and get a freezer at home and sell it as a side business then you can do you excess males at 9 months as well as part of that business

Exactly the same reason, to clear underbrush, is why I started my small herd of kikos last summer. Out of the 5 does I bought, 3 were bred. Now I have 2 sets of twins and waiting for the 3rd doe to kid. I'm a Master Gardener and have been asked to write a short article about using goats to clear areas for the local Ag agent.

Mini cows like mini Hereford, Lowline Angus, mini jersey or Dexter are easier to raise than full size cows and work well with the goats. Nice thing about the mini cows is you don't have to share the meat as you only get 300 to 600 pounds total dressed meat depending on how big your mini is. The goats and minis compliment each other in the freezer too as room for both
@BoisDArcKikos4 жыл бұрын

I agree with all your reasons to raise goats. To me they are much easier to manage over cattle. The older we get, the more we need to scale down on not only animal #’s but also size of animal. I have yet to be hurt by a goat, can’t say that about a cow. 🤗

🤔🤔. Been wondering how things were with you. I had raised Finish goats cus Kikos were real new. We had a year of rain and floods and had to begin a worming procedure cus of it. Especially the stomach worms. Nasty thing. So worth it cus goats made land better and cleaner. And milk was the best. You said it all ......just an easy animal to care for. Great looking pasture and glad ya caught the bad so soon. So glad you doing good and as always another terrific video. Did your uncle have it as well? Always sad day when ya thin out the herd but love the ones ya keeping. First time I ate goat it was slowly roasted.....so good. Be safe and take good care 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
