Hi Fred, as always, very informative. The only thing I will like to add is that, I am told the gestation period for all types of goat is five months, hence, can only give birth twice a year. However, the content is very educative and I am very grateful indeed.
@eyeandisinclair8212 жыл бұрын
AbuMoha you are correct . It is impossible for goats to give birth three times in a year .Gestation period is 145 to 155 days so you will be lucky to get two sets of kids in a year as you have to give allowance for the fact that the ewe wont get pregnant straight after giving birth.

Fred, that's smart, when you cross the boer with cross- breed goats, the results will be great. Also, you could have a separate farm distant from the breeder farm where farmers could bring their doe's for crossing for a fee. Thank you
@FarmingInAfricaOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sir! Will think about that
@eyeandisinclair8212 жыл бұрын
Mosed Nartey people have being doing cross breeding internationally for many years. The best cross is between the nubian ,and the boer .The nubian is best for milk ,and usuall have more than one kid so the kids will have plenty of milk ,and will grow rapidly. The boer ewe doesnt produce alot of milk ,and will struggle to feed more than one kid. In fact the boer ewe hardly give birth to more than a single kid. A word of warning do that cross a boer with a small ewe as the kid will be too small for the ewe's small body ,and she will struggle to give birth . You could end up losing both mother ,and kid.

I have the same vision as you boss. I’m a sheep breeder in Tamale and there’s this breed in Senegal ( Ladoum ) that I have tried all my best possible to get but it always prove futile. They are fast growers and very costly as well but at all cost I want to get it to improve the breeds we currently have in Ghana. Thanks for your updates always boss but please if you have any links to get me that breed please let me know.
