Our roadside farmstand has brought us lots of of business over the last year, but it has so much more potential, it just needs a makeover to realize it's true limits. We have talked about beautifying the stand for a long time, and this week we are finally doing it. But can we do all that and find time to sell our Tulip and Ranunculus bouquets at the market? Watch to find out.

Great job on front garden! So how about printing another round sign like your “bouquets $20” and write “Payment here” along with one that says “Qustions? Ring us”. Please get rid of the tape and put up pretty signs to make everything match. Consider a larger round sign for the blue door whrn it is open that reads “OPEN”. You would be surprised how it will help. ❤❤❤ Congrats on the great show sale and also the potted vegis. I think there still may be some worth to selling starts. How about some potted mums for fall?

Glad to finally see you planted FLOWERS in front of your FLOWER farm! People have been commenting since last year for you to do this to draw attention to your stand! Next, for your at the market sign, you have the words Red Roof Farm with a drawing of the house but the roof is white. Please finally paint that roof on the drawing red. Just one creative swoosh of red with a paintbrush; nothing fancy, don't have to stay in the lines. Just add that little POP of color to a meh sign.

Your roadside stand looks amazing - love the makeover! Great job! Couple of things occurred to me. Your banner is in the back is hard to see - can you move it and string across the front of the table? Also, I, as a customer, might not buy flowers because I don’t want to walk around with them thinking they will suffer being out of water and in the heat/sun while I shop everywhere else. If you could set up a system, where you let me pick my flower bouquet and pay for it, but you hold on to it for me to collect on my way out? Not sure if this is a mindset you encounter very often, but if so it might help you close more sales. Touching on your statement of dreaming about landscaping the entire farm, have you thought about farm tours / events? Could be a great place for photo sessions. ASCFG farm tours must make a bit of $$ for the farm involved. Consider these tours charge around $75 a ticket limited to 100 people is $7500.

One tip, you should drive by at normal speed and see if you can read your signs. I'm usually going somewhere that I can't stop and read the signs so I just ignore them. The huge mural on the fence would be like, "BAM" and the drivers would say, whoa, what's that all about. Think billboard. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new flowers planted! Such an upgrade to the already upgrades you've made to the stand. Looking really good!

If you’re looking for drought-tolerant, sun-loving perennial to plant by your flower stand, I suggest sedums like Autumn Joy. Ground cover sedums would be great too to control weeds; they’re almost like evergreens and have lovely blooms too. There’s also sempervivum (hens & chicks) that makes a great ground cover.

Attention to detail is everything. I’ve owned a gift and garden centre and I sooo understand the time limitations that running the business takes from the display beds. Small things make a huge difference. Give the beds a sharp clean edge keep the lawn mowed. Plant in masses (colour blocks) versus rows for max impact. Incorporate an arbour with bench in centre of each side for customers to sit for a photo amongst the colour. Te arbour will also allow you to trellis either side. You’ll need a couple anchor plants for hight variation. Cedars would impact and larger ones are relatively inexpensive. Alternatively frame the beds with a mini hedge for a tidy look. Much is no cost on the edging and grass clipping. Enjoying the journey!

Irrigation can cause salts (dissolved in the water) to build up over time in the soil and that can retard plant growth. Besides soil pH, you should check for salt build-up. That analysis is called soil electrical conductivity (EC) or total dissolved solids (TDS). I recently started working in soil research lab, so pardon me 😅 I love your channel ❤❤❤

Canterbury Bells are grown as a biennial in the UK. They need longer than annuals to get going. We plant seeds in June, plant out in autumn and then they flower next year. Foxgloves, honesty, sweet william and sweet rocket are all biennials and some flower at the same time as tulips. They can survive down to about -10, so you would have to 'double wrap' them or use a hot bed.

I love that you are fixing up the front gardens. To me, it would make a lot of sense to move some of the peonies in the fall to fill in the front garden. You could still harvest them and yet have the foliage for structure. They make a great shrub.

Ian & Serena. What a great video. Love to see you enjoy your own flowers in the house You have gone from strength to strength all that VERY HARD WORK is now paying off👏👏 Selling veggie plants alongside flowers is great I would be buy plants too as head start for home planters or garden. The way you advertised Square space was excellent, I have no see anyone explain it as well as you have done Will be looking forward to seeing you both soon great camera work Ian 🌺🌺🌺🐛

I think having the plants to buy as well as the flowers is a great idea. Also, I don't know if you have them where you are, or could find someone in your area to weld them for you, but a stand to hold multiple hanging baskets for Mother's Day, or just as you're doing now. If you're doing plugs anyway, or as with the Tomatoes, putting tumbling toms with marigolds in them ready to go may sell well too.

Just a thought but I think the white fence is an opportunity for marketing. Mural or beautiful logo sign or invitation to stop and shop or stop and take a selfie. People love a beautiful spot to take a selfie. So many options!
