Farnborough 2014: Boeing 777X Marks the Spot

The third day of the 2014 Farnborough International Airshow saw Boeing collect additional commercial aircraft orders and commitments from Qatar Airways, Air Algerie, MG Aviation and Hainan Airways.

Best product line out there and will continue to be. But, what Boeing needs to build is more factories. It'll take decades to fill all the orders they have out there right now.

the engines of the 777 are HUGE, like HUMANGUS

the 777 isn't that much smaller than the 747 which has 4 engines and coupled with ETOPS rules the engines have 50% more thrust in total so it can fly on one engine

Could you do one of these clips on the little matter of the new 777X and the Boeing/Honeywell Uninterruptable Autopilot, especially in light of RE:MH370 please? Oh, and the alternative cockpit access door entry might help the nervous traveling public too, just maybe!

Die Boeing 777 ist das wohl beste Flugzeug der Welt. Mit nur zwei hochmoderne Triebwerke stellt diese Maschine Rekorde auf. Sie hat eine enorme Reichweite und fliegt 21 Stunden ununterbrochen. Das Fahrwerk kommt mit drei Achsen aus (ohne 5 oder 6 Achsen. Das macht diese Maschine so günstig in der Wartung. Gleichzeitig ist sie mit nur zwei Triebwerken das größte Frachtflugzeug der Welt. Der gesamte Aufbau der Maschine ist so klar und wirkt völlig unkompliziert und übersichtlich. Sie hat ein super schönes Sky Interior und wirkt riesig und aufgeräumt. Warum schreibe ich das? Ich bin mit ihr als Passagier geflogen und war beeindruckt einfach von allem: Ruhig, große Fenster, bequeme Sitze und gigantischer Schub mit nur zwei Triebwerken bei dieser Größe. Dieses Flugzeug ist einzigartig und nicht mit anderen gleich großen zu vergleichen. Die neueste Version 777x reizt mich auch mal zu einem Langstreckenflug. Glückwunsch an Boeing.

They are little smaller, the 787 was made to compete with the A330

The 777 is larger and is not made from composite materials, while the 787 is smaller and does have composite materials.

John Apple I think the 777-9X would be made atleast partly of composites though...its taking elements from the 787 into its design such as its GenX engines and raked wingtips

John Apple Sure, that's why Boeing can't even find one of its B777, and I bet they don't want to. Flames, smoke or fumes in cockpit, perhaps, hey? Not the first time for B777 to have problems. Boeing had a dodgy actuator on the 737 that caused a few to flip belly up, crash, burn and die, too, hey? Boeing does a lot of military contracting, too, and doesn;t pay taxes, and gets massive government hand outs that would be better off spent on education, training, health and welfare. The USA is filled with parasitic and deadly corporations, I'm afraid.
