I flew on one once in coach, in an emergency exit seating row (close to a window), and there were no people in the other seats in the row. It was almost as if I was flying in business class LOL, -had extra legroom also.

+The Aviation Guy In terms of economics and comfort, the 777 literally blows it out of the skies. The Concorde was an engineering marvel, like the 777, but was absolutely horrible for operational cost. And that's the only reason why I prefer the 777 over Concorde just based of the story of the 777. But the Concorde is just amazing and I'm not saying that the Concorde is a horrible plane (which it's not, as it's an engineering marvel)

Funny you mention QF. I would no longer call the Elite. Did you know that they had more to do with the design of the 777 than most of the airlines invited to Seattle to help with the design, and yet they were the only ones not to buy it. But they're paying for it now. QF is now a shell of what it once was, and the pacific route which was exclusively theirs when the decision not to buy the 777 was made has now seen exponential growth on that sector - all with competitors flying 777's. United, Virgin, Delta, Air Canada - all on 777 variants. QF operate the A380 and older 744's on this route but the A380 is compromised on weight on the return KLAX to YSSY with regards to freight. Simply put, QF messed up and bought the wrong aircraft. Geoff Dixon was the man who ordered the A380 and not the 777 and he bought that because get this; "the 777 may do London to Sydney non stop but won't make Sydney to London without a stop." Then they ordered the A380 which currently needs a stop in Dubai. Dumb logic that is. Further, the QF board seem to be hellbent on destroying the airline as it is beholden to a piece of legislature known as "The Qantas Sale Act" which imposes severe restrictions on the airlines administration. This act was enacted when the airline was privatized in 1992 - before then it was basically a government employment scheme with planes. They have tried numerous times to have the act amended in parliament but are still hamstrung.

As Khaltazar says down below most coach long haul are 3-4-3 layout. I've flow that many times on 777 to Europe mostly with United, and the experience is meh.. Really not anything too special. I've done the same on A330 via Swiss. Both at the time I flew them had the same crappy Hi8 Video in flight entertainment system, most recent was in 09' with United, and couldn't believe they were still using video tape and small seat back LCD's that had no contrast from the late 90's. I hope to god they have upgraded this in Coach more recently. Then on another United flight 777 from Chicago to Denver more recently that didn't have any seat back entertainment system system at all.. I love planes, and love flying in them, but my next flight to Europe better be in a 787 or maybe a A340 (never had chance) or 747 (once as a kid) . Never been blown away by 777 in coach. At least in the 787 I know it would have an up to date entertainment system, not something from the late 90's early 2000's. And the interior would be up to date, not still the same one from ten years ago. Don't mean to complain, but most people don't get to ride up front, which this video seems to only feature. Of course people love it! Why wouldn't they, much more room all around and better service. Plus engine noise is a lot less then further back. It's like these people in the video don't even acknowledge what most of their clients don't get to enjoy these features they extol on. Coach class is pretty much the same experience on any aircraft you take these days from what I've done, including budget carriers like Berlin Air, almost like Southwest of European skies. But I've heard there is worse, and I wouldn't want to do one of those Asian air lines that pack 10 seats across, seems like a fire hazard on evacuation., it's like having a seat in the isle. Wow.

I've flown the Triple 7 from the States to the England and from the States to Japan. It's a fantastic airplane. It manages to feel spacious, even in economy. My favorite plane is, was, and always will be the 747-400, but the 777 comes close.

When they brought this aircraft out in 1994 I immediately decided this was my favourite plane, it is so nice to look at. I flew to Thailand for the 1st time in '09 it was brilliant. I work at RR and contribute in building engines for these planes I'm proud :)

I've flown on BA's 777-200ER, 777-300ER and the Singapore 777-300ER and enjoyed all of them. Love the feeling of the thrust building up during takeoff. And the United -300ER shot at 3:28 is seriously cool. They've ordered 10 of them now. Hope they apply the 787-style cheatline.

+Andrew Anane It's actually true! Airbus is the only competitor in this area, and they only came up with the a340, which was terrible in fuel economics in relation to the 777. This obviously is back when Boeing came up with the 777. Now, Airbus has newer airplanes like the a350 and the a380, but this video was made in 2012, way back then when Boeing's plane was completely dominant in this size class.

An congratulatory 'pat on the back' for Boeing and why not? The 777 is a great airplane, it's nice to be reminded of that. Looking back over aviation history Boeing have led the pack in terms of commercial airliners for many. many years. The 747 which, had it failed could have bankrupted the company, we all know of the 747's success, and it continues today. Let's hope the 787 proves to be a winner for Boeing too.

Well... for me, the King of the Skies is debatable, I'd say the A380 but I'm open to reason. But for the Queen, none whatsoever. Concorde takes the prize. NO other airliner can match its engineering brilliance, elegance, uniqueness, power, design, pride or aesthetics. Even the Tu-144 doesn't have the elegance or prestige of Concorde. Now that they're gone, I suppose the 747 is the Queen. But in my heart, NOTHING beats Concorde.

@Boeing HERE's the thing. If you have flown on the 777 and the A340-600, you'll notice that the 777 is MUCH louder than the A340. On the 777 i have to talk loudly to my nerbor in order to have a conversation. My ears hurted due to the notice, not pressure. Ear plug is recommended on the 777. For the A340, My god its much quiter. I have to whisper QUITLY to my neighbor so i don't wake anyone up. No headache of hurting ears at all on the A340-600.

Singapore Airlines was then the Worlds' Largest operator of the Boeing 777 and in fact had 19 Boeing 777-300ER and 10 options still. Some of the Older Boeing 777-200 with its Subsidiary Airline, Scoot Airways with 2 Aircraft and WILL Received the Boeing 787-800 soon and Singapore Airlines with Boeing 787-900 Dreamliners in 2017.

You can't (you used to be able, 20 yrs ago, even 10 with permission) just drop down to 1,000ft and say 'hi' to the Grand Canyon or California coast. They are all restricted zones these days.

Because the A380 is the largest passenger airliner in the world. 560 tonnes compared to 450 for the 747-8. The 747 has been the king of the skies for the last 40 years because no other airliner was as big until 2005 when the A380 first flew. That's a real confusion you got yourself in mate.

Love this airplane, except for the nonexistent winglets. I just don't like the way the wing seems to "end" so suddenly. I'm sure there's a reason behind it but all other airplanes have at least a little curl or something there. Everything else about it though is perfect

iJoshDG Raked Wingtips are better than the wingtip as it is more advantageous. Air often hits the wingtip and creates too much lift making it difficult for the plane to keep at a constant altitude while cruising. This happens on the 320 with the wingtip fence. The raked wingtip maintains an excellent aspect ratio while stopping this "hit of air" from happening increasing efficiency as Ray Hurley said
