Today we went searching the abandoned creek property. We search a spot they girls and brandi have not been to yet. We found the spring fed waterfall and we found terrifying proof of something living on our abandoned land. Hayden was terrified.

Should wear safety glasses wen walking an hiking un areas with brush an low hanging tiny limbs .I had a small limb tiny twig size poke me in the eye an it was stuck in my eye many years ago it has cause my eye to have damage that will always cause me sight issues.

Up here in Canada in Alberta- they hold classes on bear safety. Helps to remove the fear if u know what to expect. See if there are any such classes for the whole family to attend. You can learn tons!

It looks like our home area in NE Arkansas used to be before man destroyed it with roads, bridges, real estate sales, etc...I didn't see it that way, but heard stories from my great grandfather and grandparents. And when I was little there was still spring water feeding our creek beside the cabin. So glad I grew up when I did, even though it would have been so nice to have seen our land before the gov. took it from us to build roads and a giant bridge. Mankind can truly mess God's beauty up so quickly. You all are so very blessed!!! Enjoy and protect it as much as you can. But they will take it away from you if they want it. They took 42 ft off of our once beautiful frontage when they decided to pave the gravel road...when there was a completely empty field across the street...and gave us NOTHING! Even cut down the tree I climbed and escaped into as a child. So sad. They can't take away memories. Or the hope of what Heaven holds for us that are going!

Black bears will generally flee when they see humans. Of course, the larger a human, the better. I live in urban NJ and we have bears wander into the city. Just don't corner them and give them an escape route. Watch out for cubs and mother bears. Of course, mother raccoons can be protective, too.

The real question is can you run faster scared than the bear can mad haha My Mum grew up where bears were a lot more common and hunted in 2 seasons a year at least. She was taught to run DOWN hill if I remember correctly because their front legs are shorter than their back legs & it puts them off balance to run DOWN hill but with their claws for traction they run faster up hill.

When I was very young, my folks bought 20 acres in Indiana. Our family walked down the ravines and all over the hills. It was a great memory. A huge wolf like German Shepherd adopted us for the day. I was glad he was friendly. I have owned Shepherds all my adult life. I live through your videos. I would dig in the springs to make them flow more. Have fun in your lives.

Black bears aren't usually aggressive, just keep food air tight, hidden well. Get a pup that barks a bit, they run. Lol Gotta say raising your kids outdoors is amazing!! You are wonderful parents, nice video! :)

Nice to see your kiddos starting the habit of carrying (at least some of )the 10 essentials when hiking. Most hikers get into trouble when they head out with the idea “it is just a short or familiar hike” and are unprepared. I think the natural springs and the waterfall are real bonuses on the property. Having a natural water source really increases the value, especially if the springs run all through the summer, even during a drought season. And it is so beautiful! 💖💖💖

Dutch,Brandy and family, it’s always fun watching your videos. I’m from north New Jersey and we have black bears here. You have to be really careful especially in the spring when there are cubs. Mama bears are very protective and will attack! Don’t take it lightly if you see one on your hikes. Please watch videos on proper tactics to avoid any confrontation with bears.

This video is so awesome ! I grew up on a farm and the land was similar to your property. Tons to explore and it was never the same with each visit. My siblings and I were always exploring , had no fear back then, haha. We came across baby bears but didn't see the mom until after a few minutes. We stayed quiet until they moved on. Also we found a Ram sheep that escaped our herd years back and he was so wholly and his horns were beyond growth. Our parents couldn't catch him , so that ram lived his days out in the wild. As kids we seemed fearless of anything that lived on those acres and acres of undeveloped land. That water is the purest of water you can ever drink , we always collected ours. Thanks for bringing me along on your adventure ...love it.

We live on 60 wooded acres on a hill like that and the worse thing is dragging deer up it! That’s what convinced us to buy a side by side. Beautiful land you have bought! Wish we had the clean water,

If you can afford the cost, rent a bobcat with mulcher attachment, for a month. Clear out all roads and ATV trails, for further use. I had my property mulch instead of clear cut and it turned out beautiful.

That property is awesome. That sure was bear poo, we have bears, every spring they hang around our property when the dandelions come out then they move on and we usually don’t see them near the house the rest of the summer. Tell the girls to always be aware of their surroundings and if they are making noise the bear will keep away from them. Time to teach your girls bear safety. Love your new property.

I love the waterfall! Last year we went hiking on the trails in the woods of the UP in Michigan. We saw so many beautiful waterfalls. It is so relaxing to be out in nature as long as I don’t see any bears!

Brandy it is safe for you guys to drink the water from the creek. just make sure you drink from the water where it is moving and not in a sitting pool. i grew up in the woods and we had a freshwater creek on our property and a pond. i am still alive and kicking at 55. still do drink from the streams when i have the chance. never got sick once.

As I've stated in your previous vlogs about My Army SGT Dad and my 3 younger sisters and how Dad taught us to hunt/track game, fish, trap, shoot, cook and survive in the wilderness. It was one of the most rewarding things Dad could have done for us kids. That's when I decided to join the Army myself. Your daughters remind me so much of my three sisters. We were ready to hit the mountain trails every chance we got. As I'm in my 70's now and retired Army, I so cherish those days with Dad and my little sisters. You are obviously a Great Dad too !! GOD Speed Brother ! HooAH !! Sadly, Mom was going blind back then and was unable to traverse the mountain hills and hollows we would go in. But, Mom was always110% with us!

They’re learning how to be self-reliant, and you’re teaching them skills that will be helpful in the future. Don’t build a road to the waterfall! Keep it pristine and remote like it is. Anytime you have wooded land especially out in an area where their aren’t many people there will most likely be black bears ! They don’t want to be around people anymore than you want them around and they will flee away if they see or hear you coming!! Just make sure not to have garbage with food scraps in it outside your home or camp site and you’ll most likely be fine!! 🙏🙋🏻

You ever tried using a walking stick to help keep your balance while walking through the woods? I am sure you would all find it helpful. The stick could be handy for checking the depth of water, especially when it is covered with leaves.

Looks like a combination of a few springs and some snow melt. I’m sure with seasonal rains that stream grows a lot. There are probably quite a few springs on your property all told. You have a great water source if you need it. I think that new property is a real gem.

Thank you for taking us along on this hike on your beautiful property. That waterfall is gorgeous. It's a shame that none of you had pn a pedometer. You could have known how long your hike was. I bet it was miles long. Hayden really is growing into a beautiful young lady, she looks so mature in the beginning when you were interviewing her. I think finding fresh Bear scat in the area would have had me scared some too. Hadley and Hopee are growing into lovely young ladies fast too. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated, safe and warm.
