This was Faron:s signature song. Written by Willie Nelson it was one of Farons biggest hits.

This was not Faron's signature song, that distinguishion belongs to "LIVE FAST, LOVE HARD AND DIE YOUNG".

Thanks Roger for this oldie but goodie. As mentioned, this was written in 1960 by Willie Nelson before Willie was known. Faron released this in 1961 and it spent nine weeks at #1 on Billboards country chart and 23 in total. The song also peaked at #12 on Billboards pop chart. Thanks for the reaction

Thank you so much Roger for this fabulous request. An absolute classic and one of my all time favourites. Takes me right back to the 60s!!! Amusing note - it was written by none other than Willie Nelson! Thanks Don for the terrific reaction.

Roger and Don - this really brought out the Faron fans. My favorite was, "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young . . ." Great rating, too.

I read one time that when Faron was recording this song, the back up musicians started to snicker. They thought the words were silly. Faron, however, was a big fan of Willie Nelson even though he hadn’t made a name for himself, yet. They settled down to record the song and, as Faron expected, it was a hit.

Faron Young was one of my Mama's favorite country crooners. His son had a great voice too. A lot like his Dad's. Sadly he couldn't get his career going. Willie wrote this and his version is really good too.

This was always a great song. Puts me in mind of I'm Gonna Change Everything by Jim Reeves, what happens to all the things reminding a guy about his lost love. They should have been more quiet. Marty Robbins has Windows Have Pains. Sad music is great when you are sad. You need to feel the hurt so it can get better.

Willie tried to sell Faron the writers rights to this song because he needed money. Faron loaned him the money. When it went big, and Willie got his first royalty check, he kissed Faron. After a divorce I felt so cold inside. Whiskey would warm up my insides.
