Loved both of the grandchildren's costumes . . . so appropriate for this year. Grammies are super humans!

You did a great job on the costume. And when they think it's perfect and love it that's the icing on the cake. ❤

My two granddaughters are 11 & 13, I bought them each a sewing machine and they come over and sew with me. They have made 2 dresses each and crafts.

Good for you in trying with the plastic reductions. Me too! It’s very hard as the supermarkets really don’t help us do they? But if we all do as much as we can, then maybe it’ll make a difference. Your granddaughter’s dress was excellent. So glad it worked out ok after all your hard work and worry. 👍

The Rapunzel costume was wonderful! She will have very happy memories of what you did for her 🥰! I got that Butterick pattern out to make a couple of weeks ago and even bought the zipper last week but am trying to figure out what fabric to use, too. I was thinking maybe a French terry out of cotton with a little spandex would be nice - comfortable, sporty, and easy to sew. I'm glad to see another viewer in your comments said it runs large, which is very good to know when it comes to picking the size to make!

Super cute costume!! I have that Butterick pattern on my list to sew this fall as well. I spent part of my weekend putting yoga waistband on several pairs of pants!! I'm all about comfy as well!

Hi Stephanie, what was the name of the princess dress pattern and where can I find it? Great costumes!

Hi Stephanie. We also have voracious deer who eat lots of deer resistant plants and blooms (I'm in the Oakland, CA, hills). We call them 'urban commando' deer. Our most successful plants include the smelly or poisonous kind: sages, lillies, daffodils, narcissus, foxglove, rosemary, lavender, bee balm, impatience, matilija poppies, lantana (only the purple ones -- the deer eat the yellow+ orange ones), snow drops, daisies, marguerites, iris. I'd test the tulips before planting lots of them -- our deer love to eat them too. As to the non-synthetic (or semi-synthetic) fibers, have you tried a cotton-modal mix jersey? I understand modal is made from beech tree cellulose, so another specialized form of rayon. I've been impressed with the softness but still with some structure of this fabric blend and also it's durability for wearing and washing. I loved seeing the costume you created, Antonia

The jacket pattern is very oversized. Do yourself a favor and check finished garment measurements. I didn't and my jacket will wrap around me 1 1/2 times. It is a great pattern.
