Hoof buffer will help tremendously and shorten your time with the hoof on your leg since you don't use a stand.

How long do you keep the cast and shoe on?

Wow, why cast a flared hoof... Would benefit so much more from proper anatomical trim and then cast. Offcourse you need to build heel artificially if you trim in a way the sole gets flat.

Are you serious Fenoli? In the words of the great Walter Sobchak (played by John Goodman), “you have no frame of reference here, you’re like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know the end…. You’re out of your element” Fenoli, like seriously/massively out of your element. I’m going to help you out, please know: Dr. Curtis is arguably the greatest farrier in the world alive and well today. If you didn’t realize this, you get a pass. The fact that you didn’t take a second to do a cursory google search, however, negates said pass so listen up: Before you go about insulting one of the legends of a field that is my and many others’ not only career, but purpose/life blood/spiritual essence, via some mousy critique from the luxury of your keyboard, you might do some research beforehand. Better yet, why don’t you create a video on equine anatomy and proper trim technique. Seeing as how you’re clearly the ultimate subject matter expert here, why don’t you do us all a favor. We’ll take that video/lecture, and then we’ll open up Dr. Curtis’s Hoof of the Horse, Dr. Butler’s P3, Gregory’s textbook of farriery, and all the published dissertations of each of the remarkably few FWCF individuals in the world (of whom Dr. Curtis is one) for cross referencing. We’ll do all this and then appeal to the contrived notion that you are the ultimate subject matter expert. Seriously dude, scrutinizing Dr. Curtis’s ability to ascertain whether or not his or any fellow farrier’s trim is anatomically appropriate is akin to attempting to school Craig Trnka/Grant Moon/Dusty Franklin/Cody Gregory on how to forge a heart bar, Austin Edens/Jim Poor/Roy Bloom on how to design and build a rounding hammer, Mark Milster on how to shoe a draft horse with handmades, Travis Burns on therapeutically shoeing a severe laminitic, or Michael Jordan on how to dunk a motherfucking basketball. Now, that might of been harsh (and please do realize I’m being humorous in chiding you here/just playfully giving you a hard time), but it needed saying, as the fact of the matter is this - We (the younger generation of professional farriers) are incredibly fortunate. Why? Because we have access to virtually an unlimited supply of real time lectures/demonstrations on farriery methods, equine anatomy, forging, therapeutic techniques, etc by the masters of this incredible trade for, wait for it, FREE! Dr. Simon Curtis is not only a master, he is a LEGEND. Once you’ve come to this realization, you might revisit this page and hit the “like” as well as “subscribe” buttons in solidarity for farriers everywhere and to encourage/support legendary individuals like Dr. Curtis. He doesn’t need to do this. He could literally give a single clinic a year at a location of his choosing anywhere in the world and make as much money off of that one clinic as some of the best performance/top of the line farriers make in an entire year. He is doing this for free, and producing all this shit isn’t easy. A little gratitude and a lot of respect are in order here my dude.

@@bwarsha8797 The Dude does not abide breeding stallions with garbage feet. Perhaps the legends should discourage the practice instead of finding new ways to band-aid over bad breeding.

I dont like the result at all. The horse has way to low heels and the toe will wander off forward in a heart beat. The shoes must be more backed. Toe shortened. Pretty work, but not for making any change.
