Great video Simon, for me the footage of the horse walking and then the discussion of the deficit was great.

I use a micro drill to clean out the area before repairing the cracks. This eliminates a fair bit of the damaged area as well as clean out the microbes that might cause infection.

That Horse walks like me first thing in the morning, kinda rough, not a smooth transition hardly between each step. I love the slower motion so we can really see it and think about it.. Thanks for your time and sharing your thoughts and knowledge.. I have a camped forward, long pasterns, club footed horse, id love to send you a few pictures.. She is whooping me.. I can't make out how to best help her as far shoeing could use any ideas.. Its a triple head scratcher. 😂

Is there any update from this horse? How did the quarter crack grow out? Did he remain sound?

Would it be better to use copper sulfate behind the patch to prevent infection

Yes I wondered the same thing but he did leave a channel open for application of any antibacterial.

Dr. Curtis, what is the typical duration of this sort of treatment (I am assuming you are doing 4 week cycles for this client)? Great video by the way. Thank you for sharing your knowledge

I thought about infection and that’s why I wondered y\why you wouldn’t clean with iodine or something like that.
