25:00 I feel the same. I rated the Liveship traders over all better than the Farseer Trilogy and I also think it is a better trilogy quality wise (pacing etc) but I just love farseer more, because I'm so much more connected to Fitz. I'm currently reading the first book in the Rain Wild Chronicles and my favorite of the 3 first trilogies so far is definitely Tawny Man 💕

I haven't finished Liveship yet, but firm agree. I absolutely love the story and what Hobb has crafted with the Traders trilogy, it still outclasses most everything else I've read and her character work is just *chef's kiss*, but I don't think I've ever been as emotionally invested in a story as I am with Fitz. There's just SO much depth there, all three books of the Farseer trilogy had me openly weeping at some point, lol. XD I certainly had feelings about the Liveship family but just not as intense!

yeah, Liveships is "technically" better executed, but Farseer has my whole heart

I feel I am ruined after reading Robin Hobb. They were so good that I don't think I will be able to read any other book. If I can, would you recommend some please??

the book hangover from Realm of the Elderlings is real. I can recommend the Empire trilogy by Raymond Feisst and Janny Wurts - beginning with Daughter of the Empire. It follows a young woman, it has an eastern cultural feel, plenty of intricate political maneuvering, deadly risks, and wonderful prose...

well, myself and Jimmy (Fantasy Nuttwork) compare Hobb a lot to Abercrombie and George R R Martin, so maybe give those a go? I've also seen people compare Hobb to Megan Whalen Turner

I tend to read in publication order mostly. I agree Liene that Regal is a nasty guy…In Farseer.

I can't even remember the ending of Assassin's Quest because I read Tawny Man almost immediately after the Farseer Trilogy and I can't stop thinking about what happens in this one. My thoughts go... to the Fool, first and foremost. You said you didn't see the Fool so much, so you care for Fitz more. I'm a little tired of following Fitz and I'm more intrigued but also emotionally involved when the Fool comes in. I'm about to start Liveship Traders and - again - I want to read the three volumes in a row and then go on to the other series.

What's most frustrating about live ship traders ending is that not even Etta believed Althea! She of all people knows that that could've happened! and she went through similar situations in her past! . I think it was missed opportunity to have her finally feel some sort of bond with another women.

potentially a missed opportunity, but also pretty believable - not everyone who has an experience like that comes out of it being a great ally for others who suffer something similar, that she would be in denial about what's happened to Althea is not at all unbelievable

I think that series that are divided into trilogies are the only ones I can get through given that the only ones I ever finished were RotE and First Law. Or Discworld which I am still reading because each book stands more or less on it's own. Just like Jezal, I am one of the few people that loved Malta from the start ❤ her chapters were so funny to me. She is so dramatic. Yes, I hate what happened to Althea 😭 and I don't like Brashen. The reread made me appreciate Grag much more, but I also didn't want him with Althea even though he is probably the best out of all RotE men. I am also not a fan of how Malta ended (she's 13/14...). I hope you two like Tawny Man because it's my favourite. I loved Farseer just as much on my reread though. "Fool's Errand' being my favourite in the series and "Fool's Fate" having the most impact on me. I think Rain Wild Chronicles is the weakest and I am not a super fan of the last trilogy (that feels grimdark to me) but they're still very good and I do like the idea of how it ended a lot, just not a fan of the entire journey to get there. I think people can start with Liveships, especially if someone needs more plot and multiple PoVs. They will miss some details, but oh well. I think Hobb said people can start with any of the trilogies because there is always some information about what happened until that point that will be relevant in that story, but I still think that's a bad idea because the connection with the characters isn't there for the other 2 Fitz trilogies and the reveals about the world aren't as surprising if someone starts with RWC.

yeah, I rarely think it's a good idea to read connected books in any order besides publication order - so stoked for Tawny Man!

You guys fanning out about Malta's arc, and me over here knowing you haven't read Rain Wilds yet... (insert *this is gonna be great* meme.) Also, as someone who went on to Tawny Man from Farseer, and then went back to LIveship--it works. Though there are sort of a few "spoilers" that you're totally waiting for in Liveship, that perhaps would've been more enjoyable if I'd read in release order. Also-also: I agree with J's banner comment--the complete series has THE most satisfying ending of ANY story I've experienced. Full Stop.
