One of my favorite hymns. It helps to give peace when you don’t understand why it is frustrating to see the most wretched people seem to never have to suffer yet the people who do their best to live right always seem to have to suffer

I love this old time gospel singing. Can't get enough of it. I can not for the life of me understand why churches have thrown aside these beautiful hymns for the new so-called "Praise & Worship" that you get nothing out of and go through the motions of singing it repeatedly 5 times over. You can't bring the Holy Spirit in to the service by singing the same lines 5 times over.

My Grandpa was a sharecropper and a Pentecostal Preacher, and he used to sing this in the fields, on the way to revivals, and campmeetings. I still can see and hear him give this answer to curious questions a youngster ask him on the way to services.

Allison Spear has a marvelous voice. And she loves to sing. She cant' stand still, she so loves to sing this song. She sings from the soles of her feet. Her face shines and she is smiling from ear to ear. And the Stamps-Baxter choir likewise is spectacular. And this beautiful song deals with age old questions: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" And "Why do the wicked prosper?" And the answer is not philosophical, but relational. Everyone singing is joyous! And their singing gives me joy. So, I don't understand why these rather silly, peripheral comments about evolution and helping those who suffer are found here. Is that all you can say is the presence of these wonderful voices? C'mon!

LackadaisicalE I dont debate religion and science anymore, because I think its one debate that never ends. Ill just say this. Until you by faith have believed on Jesus Christ and He becomes a personal friend like He has done to so many, don't dispute another persons belief in Him and His act of creation.
@lackadaisicale49210 жыл бұрын
Jason Cousins I agree, let us not debate it. But we can make..peripheral commentary (lol)..Now, if you see a person who is sick, hurt, or in distress somewhere, you have a human obligation to help out if you can. Even some christians agree with this (although not the right wing American ones, ofc). It is therefore a moral obligation that I try to help or even cure those suffering from the paranoid delusional affliction called religion. And that is just the personal moral level. There is also the point of saving the world from the nutcases. You are aware ofcourse what would happen to the world, if some lunatic like Palin or Michelle Bachman gained any real power, right? Nuclear war in a month!
@jasoncuzzz10 жыл бұрын
LackadaisicalE You know the word Christian came about when some persons realized that there were individuals (disciples and early Christians) who behaved like and taught the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christ never intended for "Christianity" to be seen as it is today, a religion grouped with so many others in which name so many are persecuted and such. He never started a religion, He came a taught what Godlike living was and expected those who he taught to teach others. Dont let mainstream Christianity or religion cloud your mind from what He really intended, a personal relationship with Him that goes beyond what science can explain or whatever others present Christianity to be. It becomes so intimate, you know begin to know Him so well that nothing anyone else says can change your mind about Him. I know science is about evidence and stuff, but trust me, there is no more evidence than knowing Him my brother.
