Pundits like to build talking points with incomplete information. Yes, City, Arsenal and Liverpool among them have bought four players in this transfer market and Chelsea have bought more; BUT being able to make just four signings is the culmination of a VERY LONG PROCESS of evolution at those three clubs. They have all been through very long winding roads and curves of signing players and coaches to get them to where they are now today. The Roman era is over; ClearLake didn't buy ChelseaFC to keep using the kind of template and players that Roman used. They have the right to do things another way; ChelseaFC is at the beginning of a new process and it looks messy right now, but give it time and the benefit of doubt.

Raheem is wasting Chelsea's money, that's the issue. If Raheem got Palmer's numbers last season, no one will be asking him to leave. He's the oldest yet can't be made the captain to lead, can't be relied on to win matches.

Sterling can relax at training and still make 350k a week. Why should we feel sorry for him. Chelsea still need to pay him, so if he doesn't leave he gets paid till his contract is complete then leave on a free.

It goes both ways tbf. He did exactly the same to Liverpool and now the shoes on the other foot, but he doesn’t have to leave if he doesn’t want to. Earning over £300k a week for doing nothing isn’t a bad life.

I'm sorry, but it's quite obvious there is an attempt to bring the wage bill down and it has been a late decision by the owners to look at Raheem Sterling as one of the main paths to this, possibly influenced by a player they want to bring in who is going to cost them a significant amount of money. The idea that the manager had a look at him through the break and decided he did not like him is ridiculous and nothing short of dishonest as we are talking about a manager that was at Man City as an assistant where he would have got to know more about Raheem Sterling and what kind of player he is than anyone could learn in a month of practice. It's very simple. A late decision has been made they know should have been made earlier and carried out both disrespectfully and insensitively to try to push through their objective despite their error in leaving it so late or despite the fact they knew it was would be very difficult for the player to take action and find a new club in a way that would not be unsettling to his family and life. They know the timing means getting a new club that would please Sterling in such short notice would be difficult and getting a new club that would not be unsettling to his family would be difficult, but they just do not care and want him to pay for their error, not them. Completely unprofessional and I would blame Sterling if he sits it out for a season or half a season until a more appropriate time to ensure he can make his transfer at a time that would not be harmful to his career and his family's life. The idea that a top player of his stature and achievement should not be in a position to move strategically in a way and time that would be positive for his career and the lives of his family members as if he is desperate and has achieved nothing in his career is a callous management of the club, if not very naive. The new owners system doesn't leave players expendable, it leaves ineffective and overly paid players expendable. If you ask me, I don't see anything wrong with that. But yeah, they could have handled the situation with some decorum of respect for a player that meant a lot to english football.

Sterling is not in the new plan, let him go save some wages, and being honest to him, what is wrong with that? Human side? He has family? He shouldn't say this he should say that...Also the comparison to other clubs, players, manager, what is the point? Chelsea just wants new players period!
